Steps for success:
1) Completely fill up one or more smelter(s).
2) Go do literally anything other than stare at them. Hunt for meat, feathers, etc., grind sneak/swimming skill, tend the farm, start planning that expansion to the house, go fishing, cook some food, etc. Or, y'know, just go to bed.
3) ?????
4) Profit. (look at all those metal bars you just picked up off the ground)

increasing the capacity would be better, so you can leave and come back and the completed batch is bigger. no matter the speed, you should never just sit there and watch ingots pop out.

I just fill it up and then go to the harbor to get the next batch of ore off the ship that I sailed the ore to the smelter with.

V+ has kiln and smelter pull from chests. It's an evil luxury which I plan to keep using. The souls of those discorporeal surtlings work for me now, bwahahaha! Dump wood and ore in a nearby chest and walk away. Come back to find bright and shiny ingots waiting for you. Make sure to store wood you plan to keep further away, and turn off the use of other types of wood. It does wonders for my sanity, or so the dead surtlings tell me.

+1 for Valheim Plus mod. It's so. Damn. Good. Tons of QOL features, plus many ways to alter the game in ways that make it more enjoyable for you. After using it for my recent playthrough, I consider it a Must-Have mod.

Smelter, charcoal kiln, fermenters, and more. There's an option for them to pull resources from a nearby chest and deposit the refined goods in another chest. You don't even need to think about it. Just drop in whatever they want nearby, go on an adventure, then come back to everything being done. And there's a speed setting for it all, too.

Hey folks,

please remember that as of now modding is not officially supported. It's done at your own risk, there are no guarantees for future compatibility. Please keep backups of your save files before you start modding. If you need technical support, please always include a full list of active AND prior mods, since that can influence the game's behaviour with regard to bugs.

Have a good day!
Can't believe no one said this or I missed it, but you can just fill it up and go to sleep and then it drains rapidly lol

I could give you a NOT RECOMMENDED tip on how to increase the smelter-speed, but you could use ''sleep'', after using ''devcommands'' in the dev-console. As I said, NOT RECOMMENDED. (especially not in Multiplayer, unless the Members of the server agree.) What does the command ''sleep''? Not much to explain, it just skips the night, or day, if you feel like putting the command in daytime for some reason.
