Random pockets of Black forest?
Hi guys! I've been getting back into Valheim recently and decided to make my own new world. I've created a new world, however I am noticing something that I havent noticed beforehand: there are these small pockets of black forest biomes scattered near my spawn point. They arent big enough to host any structures, however they are big enough to spawn mobs like trolls, which harass my spawn constantly. Is this a bad world? or is this in every world now?

there hasnt really been much in the way of world generation changes, you just got a really weird quirk in this seed. This has always been able to happen, getting a literal dirt patch as a separate biome. Look on the bright side, super easy troll hide, eyes and resin!

ditto this. I have one map where there's a troll cave within sight of the spawn but no actual black forest. my modded map has a sliver of swamp that is just 4 trees a bit off shore. it spawns 3 mobs that are easily avoided but it is closer to the spawn than usual. Either cope with a map or get another

One of my early seeds had like .... for real... 2x2 floor panels wide of black forest at the coast by the spawn. It had 2 fir trees but greydorfs kept spawning in it until I stuck a craft table on it.

Random seeds are random. I've had tiny pockets of plains on the next island over from my starting island a couple times. Scared the bejeebus out of me.
I once found a very small piece of swamp with a single guck tree in an open (and low-lying) spot in an hilly, wooded area on my start island.

Sounds more like an interesting world tbh.. :D
Could you share the seed id please?

Plains cannot really appear near the starting spawn point. I mean they can even be in the same landmass as the starting point, but they'll still be very far from it.

The spawn point always has some meadows forced around it. If the area was supposed to be black forest, it will force a "star" shape on top of it, which can create those odd pockets.
Like, this random map has triangular pockets of black forests between meadows and mountains https://valheim-map.world/?seed=vWsezigBYF&offset=158%2C-182&zoom=0.092&view=1&ver=0.207.20

Good info.

I have a really nice one. I got a large enough circle of meadow to build a lodge on an island that was 1/2 swamp, 1/4 plains, and 1/4 black forest.

Oof, the thing with the trolls sounds rough. Especially near a starter base.

I have an area near one of my swamp resource farming zones that has postage stamp sized bits of plains.

It goes from black forest to swamp... but then after getting nuked by a couple of deathsquitoes, I finally found three small patches of the plains. They're literally like sandbars out in the water, but they count as plains and generate goblins and deathsquitoes. Shrug. I go there to kill abominations, so I'm always geared up for a fight.

The only irritation is getting random bits of non-swamp resources tying up inventory slots. I can bring back the deathsquito needles, but the black iron just accumulates in the swamp base. Not worth a longggggg sailing trip back home.
