Deer not dropping hard antlers?

I've killed like 15 of them and I only get the deer trophy

I'm hitting them from like 40 yards with the bow

And when I am impatient, I kill them up close with the dagger

Do I need to kill a 1 star or above or something?> I need hard antler to make the cheapest pickaxe because I need more stone

For hard antlers, you need to kill the meadow boss.

Considering you looked up how to make the pickaxe you could have just looked up how to get the ingredients...

If you’re looking for the antler to start mining things, that’s from the first boss (who is also a deer) and not the deer themselves.

You summon the first boss using things from the regular deer, so your efforts haven’t been completely in vain.

A little tip.
Every biome has a new kind of boss.
And in every biome you will find clues to where you find the new boss, and at the alter of the boss you will find clues to what you have to offer to the "stone" to spawn the boss.
You will all over the game world find clues on rune stones both on the ground but also sometimes down in crypts, or on in buildings in the mountains.
I highly recommend that you do one biome at a time since you have to build up your strength first.
Example
1). do the biome where you start first and kill the boss Dear.
2). next go to the black forrest ( high streight trees and caves with skeletons )
3). go the the swamp area
4). go to mountain area ( you need bees and produce honey to make special anti frost potion so els you will tage damage from the cold, and get wolf skin for armour.
5). go to the plains area

I highly recommend that you build a house example 1 minute running time from the boss so if you die you can respawn in your bed and run back and pickup you gear vs having to sail all the way.. And i even recommend to setup a teleport later in the game so you can go forward and back to your bases fast to resupply and repair stuff.

final little tip.. I recommend to get a shild and use it to block enemy attacks. This is very powerfull and let you get 2-3 hits on the enemy while they are "confused".

Oh I mean I'm just getting back into the game. I've defeated the first three bosses in the game before, I just wanted to mine a lot of stone. I'm just going to level up my workbench a lot then. I'm just trying to build something massive without the console commands/dev commands and I need the stone

I was playing it after being up for about 24h and after work, I was killing deer no problem but I had a brainfart...that's my bad.

How do you know about pickaxe existence? You shouldn't see this recipe in the game yet...

Whenever you stuck, check the wiki first. The open world survival craft games must have one, otherwise it won't be efficient player-wise (we don't play single game for years anymore). Sure you may find an answer here or e.g. reddit, but with the use of google you should end up here[valheim.fandom.com].

You can raise and kill the bosses as many times as you want. I once killed the deer boss twice in a row, just because. I also have several bases around Bonemass skulls, so I sometimes test new weapons on him.

Here's a tip you may find useful: Your characters and your worlds are saved separately. Therefore you can pick any character you have created and enter any world. So you can enter a virgin, untouched world with an advanced, well equipped character.

Also, you wont be able to build with stone unless you build a stonecutter, which requires iron (the swamp). You could use it to raise ground, but that's about it.

You should kill him a few times because the trophy is awesome and occasionally talks to you.
