The claim that the devs are slacking off comes from narrow authoritarian minds. It is what they would do. And when they say Valheim has no content, you'd better find out what they mean by "content." Some people only see boss fighting. That's all that exists for them. I don't know why they aren't playing "Monster Hunter."
Valheim has a chance to become huge. The devs would be insane not to be working as hard as they can. People who know nothing about it pull GANTT charts out of the same place they keep their heads and cast aspersions.
1. what you get right now it's worth many hours of gameplay and way more worth than the bargain price they ask. Which will for sure rise in the future.
2. What you can play now (single and multiplayer) feels balanced, finished and works very well. You never get the feeling that something is missing or unfinished.
3. When you reach the current "end" of the game it feels finished. And if this would be release version you would not have the feeling as if something is missing. You could just accept to have researched everything and seen everything.
4. What they are adding is a new biome with new resources and, enemies and a new boss... So the voyage just goes on.
Yes you can absolutely buy the game. Even when they would call it finished tomorrow you get a very good game more than worth the money you spent.
please don't let this thread move into flame war territory. Fighting over each other's opinions is a waste of everyone's time, so please stick to giving OP your (non) recommendation.
Thanks & have a good day!
It's always been worth it, but it is a survival game, not a do everything fast game.
MODS are not officially supported, but after hundreds of hours in Vanilla I needed to add some QoL and Monsters to my gameplay. Mods can push this game into THOUSANDS of hours of value.
People are angry that the roadmap was pulled shortly after the game hit a huge player base. Updates and new content feel very slow....HOWEVER.....the direct answer to your question...is Valheim worth the price and EA issues/bugs to get into = YES
*possibly
No, they have taken a very long time to push out even tiny updates. The game slows down really bad about 20 hrs in. I won't recommend until they get a cohesive roadmap with at least estimates of finish dates.
This is not true. If you rely on the Steam Cloud and don't ever back up your data then you can lose everything.
Valheim makes it easy to backup your data by hand. In the lower left corner of the startup screen is a white button labeled, for some reason, "View log file." It actually takes you to Valheim's data folder. Go up one level in the tree (alt+up), right click on the "Valheim" folder and copy it somewhere. Do this before every session and you can't lose more than a session.
Valheim's data is in the paths that normally get scheduled for automatic backups, so if you are backing up your pc daily, as you should, then you can't lose more than a day.
Backups also have a remarkable power of preventing data loss in the first place. It's true. I've rarely had to use a backup to restore data. I've only ever lost data that wasn't backed up.
And it's very playable.
