Tamed Wolf Healing "Zero?"

Hello,
I noticed an odd thing. My tamed wolf accidentally walked into a campfire and instantly lost half of its health. Then, Green "0"s (Zeros)m started rising from it, like it was healing...but why plus zero? It is actually not healing. AND, when it eats, it only gained 0.6 health instead of 20, like I have read. Really odd.

Tamed Wolf 0,0 healing
1 star wolf 0,1 healing
2 star wolf 0,2 healing my own guess sins i do not have any 2 star

The thing is it's only happens when the wolf has recently eaten food and damage them selfs.
The next day they eat they heal completely.

yes all tames boar wolf lox etc seem to full heal only once per game day..
