is there a reason oak trees aren't dropping any acorns?
so i've counted 24 trees i've spent an hour running around to find in 3 different meadows, not one of them dropped a single acorn.

sure, i needed the fine wood anyway, but i wanted the seeds to plant in my tree farm. why aren't any dropping?

They're stingy.

Beech seeds and fir pine cones seem to have a drop rate of about 20%. Birch seeds and pine cones seem to have a drop rate of 10%. Acorn drop rate seems to be about 5%. If you are after fine wood you are better off cutting down birch trees and you'll get more seeds for replanting. I only use acorns to plant oak trees for decorative purposes.

Valheim trees drop less seeds than trees. Your farms will always deplete, so it's necessary to go hunting for more trees.

Not too much of a fan of it, I mean what are the bees even doing?

Acorns are VERY rare. Unfortunately. I wish IG would up the drop rate a bit. Just a bit. C'mon...

I could plant an entire forest out of beech trees. They drop too much! So take a bit of beech and give it to oak and I'm happy. :)

Yeah. I actually mark the locations of all oak trees on my map and I avoid cutting them down unless it's a dire emergency. If I need fine wood I'll go farm some from the Plains or grab a few Birch from the Meadows. I think I've gotten 4 acorns from the oak trees I have had to cut down. Beech trees on the other hand... I have a lumber farm and I pretty much either break even or come out ahead on beech seeds when I harvest.

Maybe I've been lucky... every fifth tree or so will drop three acorns. :/

That's about what I get, too.

Oak trees have 40% to drop acorns (always 2 acorns in a drop). It also have 50% for 2-3 drops, meaning you can get up to 6 acorns from one tree if you are extremely lucky. I got it twice.

I would assume from the Valheim wiki:

This never happened to me.

My guess is they can drop between 0 and 4 . I had a field of 10 oaks which became 10 again, than 6, and now 4. My feeling is tree seeds drop at about 25% or so, with variation in that.

Oaks and birches are designed such that you cannot have a self-sustaining farm. Beeches and firs will drop enough seeds so your farm will perpetuate itself.
