Does fire get rid of fog?
I just noticed something for the first time today. I think fire gets rid of fog. Can anyone confirm this?

It appears to me that it does. It works best in enclosed, sheltered areas. Walls and a roof, I believe, serve to keep more fog from drifting in. If a fire goes out it takes very little time for the fog to return.

Thanks guys. I'm just dumbfounded that I never noticed this before. I was starting a new building project and it was foggy for like a week straight. It finally dawned on me to place a fire down. Within a few minutes, the fog was gone.

No, it vvvvvvvvery much does not help with fog at least not at my place. Every morning my plains base is decidedly fogged in like the SF Bay area or the Pacific Northwest Coast and I got fire all over the place.

My huge meadows base always has morning fog inside it even though I have 4 hearth's, a hot tub, and a stone oven, plus numerous sconces.

Hmm, this is strange. I wonder if there's different types of fog. Maybe some are thicker than others? I was in the Black Forest when I did my experiment. I tested it like five times and it always worked. There was fog all around except in the radius of my campfire.

There are indeed two types of fog. There is the heavy fog that pretty much wipes out all vision ("Misty"), and then there is a thin, ground-hugging fog that usually only appears in the Black Forest ("DeepForest Mist"). Fires will push back the thin fog in a radius around them, but I don't think they will do anything for the heavy fog.

yep mist rises from ground and rests in hollows . fog comes as low clouds from sky or sea ...seems to me fire doesnt help with mist in game.. though it might in limited circumstances

Yup. It stops the ground fog you get when mining copper for example.
