But this shows why censorship is so stupid. Its like in dark souls if you name your character knight, it gets censored to K***ht online. God forbid you might offend someone cause that word has ♥♥♥ smack dab in the middle. OH THE HORROR!
I get why they would censor certain words, I really do. They want their game to be family friendly and all that. But my god games need to fix whatever they are using to censor things, because its broken and ultimately hurts the player experience. At a certain point, you mind as well just stop censoring all together. If people are being offensive then just don't play with them.
And "Scooter" is a name that has nothing to do with that...
btw about Dark Souls, the filter there is even more ridiculous becasue capital letters don't trigger it. So knight gets censored but the N-word will not if the N was capital.

As for name change -- not sure if it works anymore:

Other option is this:

Funny really.
Showed where her mind was ha ha ha
One of my characters is called "Lassie" and the 3 characters after L now appear as ***.
Bit annoying.

"but i meant it as the vehicle" - how is the game supposed to distinguish between that or any of the others?
Sure, it blocks some legitimate names. Bummer. Come up with a new one and carry on? I certainly appreciate steps taken to avoid seeing names like "dickriderpro."
As one person above already said, it won't match to a version of the word with an uppercase letter because they didn't add that variant. Or variants with dollar signs instead of S's, or 1 instead of I's. It's just super lazy censorship.
And bizarrely, these files are usually stored as plaintext. So people can open one of these files, and then just be utterly gobsmacked by a super concentrated list of utterly offensive words. I worked for a server rental company, and on more then one occasion we had a parent stumble on these files while setting up a server for their kids... and... well... there's just... not a lot... you can say to an angry parent when they find these lists (they sometimes have thousands of offensive words, sexual, racial, etc).
Thank you for posting this.
