How to disable mini map?

Hey, I haven't played Valheim in about a year and I don't remember it having a mini map. Can I disable this? I like just using my senses to find my way, it's more immersive.

I don't think you can toggle off just the minimap alone but there's a key to hide the UI. I think it's F3. You won't see your quick access item bar though, IIRC.

I remember trying out cool mod for that. It disabled maps and added 'meditation' near fire that would show you general direction of bosses and spawn, so it's hard to get completely lost. I think it was on nexus site, not sure if it is working with current game version, but definitely worth trying.

It would be awesome to see something like that in base game.

The base game has at least half of this feature. You can activate it with the "nomap" command. I haven't tested this yet but I think finding bosses is now a major problem, which kinda makes this otherwise cool sounding option less appealing.

Mini map always been there. Well, since I play at least, and I first played this game more than a years ago, since last Feb 2021 if I recall...

True, no map and no other way for game to guide player to next boss would make progressing virtually impossible in such vast map.
That's why mod I described introduced this interesting mechanic to show direction while resting near campfire.

Ctrl + F3

open up the console, type in nomap. This removes the map and minimap. A true challenge! noportals also works.

if you need it back type it in again. I dont think you need to use "devcommands" to get it to work but it will work that way too if you type in that and then type nomap.
