Did not find the Trador

Uhm...Des know how big the world is? Do they expect us to explore all Black Forests? I mean if I am done with the Elder I move on to the next Biomes.

I found him by cheating now, but I wish they could have found a solution where you find him easier.

Maybe for the next game?

The following is from an official wiki:

"Haldor has 10 possible spawn locations that are located in Black Forests which are at least 1500 meters away from the center (starting pillars) of the world.

Approaching any of these locations will permanently place Haldor there. This can happen from 320 - 453 meters away (about twice of the default minimap range) when the related zone is generated. When discovered, his bag icon will appear on the world map."

If one keeps checking the fullscreen map, once the bag icon appears there, it will then also appear on the mini-map.

My son and I did a fair amount of sailing about looking for Haldor. Unfortunately we failed to explore the island continent directly east of our starting location, which is where we found him. In the future, I now know to explore in an ever widening circle around one's map seed starting continent. If we had done this we would have found Haldor sooner, as well as a much more appropriate location to set up our headquarters. We set up HQ on the island upon which we spawned, which had no plains or swamp biomes, and of its 2 mountain biomes, one had only wolves, and the other had no creatures and neither had resources beyond wood and stone. Directly to the southeast was a massive landmass, with multiples of all the biomes, where we would not have had to transport iron or silver by sailing vessels. It also had 2 star wolves and boar.

They should definitely fix his spawning algorithm to have at least a few possible locations at least reasonably close to the spawn area (aka not past where mistlands biomes spawn and at least 1 before plains can spawn) my world had 1 trader location that wasn’t on the world border which made finding the trader very difficult as there was only 1 possible location I would have actually found him at.

The best way to find Haldor is usually by ship. By merely sailing close to shores you will usually find him. He will appear on your map if you get within a certain distance. He's usually in the second ring out from the center. On a few seeds I have had to venture inland on foot to locate him.
