polearm best weapon?
here's why I can't get rid of my polearm: swords and maces are basic af, battleaxes are too slow, and spears are always out of range after a parry. is there anything that can change my mind on this?

So I carry multiple weapons, but you know which one has been REALLY growing on me lately?

The iron sledge, something about leaping into a group of filings and putting the hammer down....watching them flail as you bash again and hear the glorious ring of simultaneous crits....I REALLY hope we get another 2 handed club soon ;D

The bow is the best weapon hands down.

You can easily kite anything including trolls and bosses. Take out entire Fulong villages from a distance. And lets see some silly mace guy kill a bird in midair. :spazwinky:
well obviously you're going to have a bow, I'm talking about melee weapons

might have to go blunt weapons, you get a lot of variety with those.

The uber knockback of Frostner is a lot of fun, especially along steep inclines against Greydwarves and Fulings, one can launch them into space using the secondary attack. Porcupine with its ability to do both blunt & piercing damage, is the most lethal weapon in the game. Parryng a Wraith on its first strike (or starred Fulings) followed up by the mace secondary attack, is almost a guaranteed 1 shot event.

Just used the polearm in the crypt and it has enough reach to poke enemies on the other side of scrap piles (once you've mined them down to poke over) and the blob doesn't attack unless your close enough so you can poke them out of their attack range.

If we're talking about the best in terms of weaknesses, then blunt weapons take the cake since most enemies are weak to that damage type. I use Iron Mace for highest pure Blunt, Porcupine for split Blunt/Pierce and Frostner for Blunt/Frost/Pierce. Frostner is especially useful in Swamps and slowing down Fulings when getting ganked. A Lv4 Iron Mace quickly deals with Bonemass too. Pairing these weapons with a shield for parry damage is a plus.

The Blackmetal Atgier on the other hand is very good too. High stamina usage per poke, but offers high Pierce dmg and is a great spacing tool. The secondary attack I believe staggers most if not all enemies (Even a 2* Fuling). The knockback on the primary attack is low so it can take care of monsters fast without having to run at them after the 1st hit due to knockback. Also, its parry block power is high so you can parry Lox and Fulings without needing to switch to a shield.

You know you can throw a spear, right? It gets a damage bonus when you throw it.

I use spears for most of the game. Enemy hitboxes are wonky on slopes, I enjoy the flexibility of being able to throw a spear at them to resolve that issue. Primary and secondary attacks have low stamina usage compared to other weapons which is really nice in high stamina use terrain like the swamp and mountains.

My secondary weapon is a hammer. It has the benefit of dealing it's damage through walls, doors, trees, rocks, etc. Really shines in the forest and swamp, though I continue to use it in the mountains and plains.

yeah but sometimes that spear goes into another dimension, also it's just too annoying to miss all my melee shots
