Did you actually read what it said on the link you provided? It has nothing to do with cloud nor saves nor quitting the game. The link you gave is about is a problem that occurs if you're playing on a different server, meaning you're effectively playing someone else's PC with a poor connection. And you die exactly as your connection is disconnected so your friend's PC doesn't record it, and you don't bother waiting for the re-connection to succeed.
For your problem (not the OP), the solution is to not have a terrible connection, or wait for it to reconnect if you die at the "exact" split second your crappy connection dies, or just stick to a single player world (i.e. your own PC).
To answer these and provide some clarification.
I'm strictly vanilla, on my own PC, I died over a Tomb (one without a free standing exterior) or near it, first instinct after searching was to search the tomb.
I might see if I can recreate the issue, this post was more to bring awareness to the player base and possibly devs. I'm content but some people get really emotional about these things.
Cute, You'd make a horrible game developer.
i must have missed the part in the OP where they mentioned being on single player. Thus my link. But you are correct in that the bug linked doesn't explain all instances of missing tombstones. as in my case, I only play single player. I know IG addressed the issue in patch 0.145.6 "* Extra tombstone checks ( to prevent them from disappearing )". When i was researching the issue Steam Cloud was mentioned in several posts. Some suggesting to turn that feature off. I haven't. I just back up every so often.
