SIX pigs per banner?

I wanted to make some banners to decorate my base. But it turns out each banner requires 6 leather scraps? How does one even get that much sustainably?

Hunt the boars or tame them, feed them, the population of boars will increase quickly... you need a butcherknife to kill tamed boars.

They are slow to come by early game but later you don't know what to do with them. I don't even see the point in taming other than for fun.

I have 3 chests full of nothing but leather scraps and that's just from randomly collecting whilst playing. I've never even gone out for a day to farm them.

You can find boars in meadows. You can hunt them down. Also, you can breed boars. You build a fence around them and feed them (drop some food like strawberry) Over time, you earn their truss and won't get scared of you. If you have more than one, they breed and make a new one.

I've been playing for over 20 hours. I have made quite a bit of progress, but in terms of leather, I have essentially 0. I guess I'll try making a farm though.

Do not feed Boars yellow mushrooms, they freak out. Raspberries and Blueberries are good, but root veggies seem to be best.

Also, honestly, about the banner, you are going to kill so much in game that 6 boars are really no big ettin deal.

Boars may drop one leather pieces. One star boars drop 2 leather and 2 star boars drop 4 pieces. Best to farm one or two star boars if possible.

Yes that part is stupid indeed. By the time I have a boar farm set up I have little to no need for leather scraps.

have patience, you'll get more scraps than you will know what to do with just from normal play.

after the first couple hundred hours of play I made everything I wanted from them and keep a chest full of leather scraps just to have on hand. Since then I have probably put 10 times as much into the obliterator.

tame 1 boar with 2 stars and then tame some random normal boar, and breed till you have 2 star2 boars. And use farm/breed more boars, since 2 star drops are pretty damn good, i think its like 4 leather scraps per 2 star boar.
