locking doors and factions?
will this be added to the game for public lobbies? Itd be cool to see viking villages pop up but i can also see it turning into rust lol

For the locked doors you would refer to the ward stone.

Factions... would probably need a higher stable max player count. Who knows if thats on the dev list. Could pop into suggestions I guess

kinda hoping they add a vanity slot too so my useless but cool looking armor can still be worn like in terarria

Every player needs a bunch of AI being handled nearby them so it would be unlikely.

I think there should be AI factions instead who build towns and you can either make allies and shop/live in their towns or make enemies. When I first heard of this game I pictured pillaging villages and fighting with other viking groups

This is a PvE game, its co-op and not like rust, rust is like minecraft factions is about raiding and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on everyone so you can be the apex preator.

While valheim is semi story driven, you are on valheim the realm, to clear out the enemys of odin and be allowed into valhalla.

And rust can have servers with 40 people on easy, and valheim is not made for that.
When it came out it could hardly even handle 6 players at once.
If you host a valheim server and beat all bosses, anyone who join after that will not beable to get a foothold in that game without having a charator with atleast iron gear there from befort ehy even join.

But there are mods that addes lock able doors, i know that much.
And any PvP threads normaly gets very toxic and shut down fast.

As mentioned, the game is designed to be co-op with friends type of game and will never turn into a "RUST" style game.

It would be a freaking miracle if you were to even find any sort of "open" server where you could just join as a random. IF you were to even find such a server, you wouldn't be able to simply walk in and start killing people since, by default, friendly fire / pvp combat are not activated and can only be activated by each person individually, if they choose to participate in PVP.

Most every server is locked because there are no good ways to prevent some random from breaking / stealing your stuff... someone mentioned the ward, but that thing is a joke and will not prevent theft... it would only slow someone down slightly.... Even if the player who owned the place was there, he / she would not be able to prevent the damage caused or harm the would-be robber.

Even worse is the ability to use console commands to summon mobs of any level, and any amount... essentially someone could potentially cause servers to crash by summoning in so much stuff at the same time, etc... THIS is why people don't open up their games to let random people join, and why this game will never become "RUST"

I think it's possible to write a server mod that requires connecting players to have the corresponding client mod installed, so PvP modes could evolve by that route?
