My top played games are Killing Floor with 7000 hrs across multiple accounts and using the SDK to make maps.
Next would be Warframe with over 5000 hrs.
Payday 2 basically the 3000 hr + club type games to me.
Well that is just on steam I have untold hours play Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, probably 10s of thousands of hours in BF2142...
But current games Valheim comes in after the biggies along with The Division in terms of playtime. Valheim is a game I will continue to play unlike The Division though.
The tier below that are good games like Left4Dead but typically can only hold my attention for around 400 to 600 hrs
More on topic: I'm happy to see so many people can relate.
And
You're welcome, and glad to hear.
But then again, that is over 4 years. Have half the hours in Valheim since February EA. Yeah, I would say I'm rather fond of Valheim.
Hell! My GF almost never plays video games.. but even she is playing Valheim almost everyday.
Between christmas and new year, I played Valheim. I woke up late, started my computer, joined our Valheim server. Friends soon joined too.
Next thing I notice, that my eyes are burning, I can barely lift my arms (I play it in VR), and 14 hours passed in the real world.
1000 hours and you just built a karve? What have you been doing on the starter island for 1000 hours.
Don't get me wrong. I love this game, but there's NO WAY 1000 hours of content unless you endlessly start over.
I did a vanilla run
did a no bow no portals run
started a 3rd for fun after heart and home and got close to 200h and there's nothing left to do.
My latest thing is to play "hardcore" If I die I simply exit... delete the character and the world and start over.
I'm sorry I'm not playing this game the way you do. If I read you correctly then your game goal is only to run around and kill the bosses. That is only a side quest for my gameplay.
I'll let my maps do the talking

This is a bit older but gives an idea of the explored area versus the full map.

My 1000 plus games are Skyrim, Dark Souls 1, and X-Com 2.
I also have a bunch of MMO hours in WOW, Rift , and Guild Wars 2. But I'm afraid to count those. lol
I treat Valheim bosses the same as I treat main quests in games like Skyrim and Witcher 3; postpone them until I either want to fight/do them or need to fight/do them to gain access to something I want.
Yea, me too. I just defeated the elder after like 60 hours and have no rush to go further rn. Chilling, building, farming. There's barely any game which makes me enjoy basebuilding and exploring around as much as valheim. (slightly modded tho, but still)
The grind in Valheim is a different animal too - almost voluntary and periodic rather than continuous and required. That said it's really a matter of personal preference/taste, like sushi
