Not including crafting (just survival) The Long Dark is much harder. Also Dwarf Fortress, the grand-daddy of all survival crafting games IMHO.

Subsistence survival plus Green Hell is harder.
Valheim is easy and the player can just take their time easy food around everywhere and water is simple to get.
GH your always trying to suvive with food micromanagement and getting clean water fighting parasires natives if enabled and leopards rattle snakes leeches, piranah and stingray in streams will kill you ..
SS all resources except wood is found mainly in loot bags you get killed by wolves moose bears all the time when trying to explore for loot bags. A lot of grind and scarce growing food to get.

I think on the first play through, it seems tough. But once you know the game well enough, it’s actually very easy.

I placed all the trophies on a separate seed where I can go anytime and only get a few forest attacks no hoards ever. SO I just enjoy the game building and exploring sailing. Beautifuf game with so many choices.

I swear it has gotten easier. Devs can't help but to cater to the masses. I'm sure it puts a smug face on them, as if they were just right. They don't want to die(i mean they would quit), have their hp drop below 70%, have to think, just spam buttons, auto save every 5
seconds, etc.

Is Valheim difficult?. No. It is just the majority can't be bothered to prepare. They don't wanna dodge and whatever else. They rather whack (probably actually shot) on the boss with resisted weapons for 15-30 minutes then make a mace and kill him in like 2-3mins. "Resist potions?, healing potions?, nah im good"

I remember reading something about how Squaresoft/Square-Enix nerf some encounters. This was because of how lazy western gamers be. I gotta say has it ever grown so true.


I'm sure this will be claimed as another "disrespectful" "mean" "racist" "mansplaining" post that gets me slapped again. Such as it is the past few years with all this silencing and insanity. If so, please just get it over with and ban me.

First off I just wanna say that anyone saying Valheim isn't a survival game because you can't starve to death - Hunger is not the defining trait of survival games any more than open world, crafting, environmental challenges, resource management, sanity/emotion level, or starting alone with nothing and having to progress through various game challenges to survive. Valheim IS a survival game.

But other than that, no it is absolutely not the hardest out there as seems pretty clear by now. I'd put it on the low to medium-low end of the survival spectrum, around the same point as Raft, Subnautica, or Conan Exiles.
