Trouble getting wolf to eat
I'm trying to tame a wolf in the mountain biome (0 stars, just a regular old wolf that attacked me while I was mining silver, and fell into the pit I had created). Once I saw it was trapped, I quickly put up 4 stake walls to trap it, and hid until it was no longer trying to destroy the walls. I repaired the walls, and dropped in some boar meat for it to chew on, but it hasnt even touched the meat after 3 day/night cycles. Now, I had taken a swing at the wolf, so it was injured when it fell in. Does that affect its ability to tame? Its completely healed now, but still never progresses past Wild, Hungry, even with the meat I dropped in.

I don't know exactly how much time it's supposed to require, but I was sure something was wrong with the amount of time it was taking for the two I tamed. Eventually it just worked, but it took much longer than I was expecting. I think you have to be near enough for them to not get culled as well.

Taming takes two days and two nights, you have to be close, but wolf shouldn't see you. Crouch and when the eye icon disappears should start to tame, you will see yellow hearts :)
Good luck!

I'll look into posting a screenshot, but I was literally over top of the wolf in stealth for 3 day/night cycles, and it never progressed past Wild, Hungry

I saw a tip on a video about lox taming that says they are looking for the food from the height of a troll, so anything above might stop them from seeing the food. I would suggest digging a deep hole next to where it is trapped, then dig into your current trap so the wolf falls in. Quickly jump out and remove the stake walls in case they are stopping it from seeing the food.

Thanks, I'll definitely give that a shot. I'm also thinking about widening the stake walls (he's currently trapped in a 1x1 cell), but if that doesnt work, I'll try your method.
