WTF is wrong with the boats

they allways take damage i cant go away for 5 minutes before they get destroyed and i dont get it why we cant dive down to get the nails from like 5 feet and when i try to find console commands i find out they patched it out or something thats frustrating

I know this, the time it happened to me the waves were pretty low. I have had big waves do damage, but the bug is your ship just receiving 5 constant damage at a slow tick.

Are you playing on a server? I believe this bug is associated with that.

Ok maybe this is normal wear and tear. Haven't noticed it personally, I repair my ship regularly, it rarely has more than 20% damage unless it's under attack. You understand. Your car also wears out with every trip.

I understand how the game works, it was a bug. I didn't really believe it when I first heard about the bug until it happened it me. Like I said only happened once and I have sailed quite a bit. Sailing is also the only time I have ever had the game crash on me.

HM ok. I also had a crash while sailing, so I had to restart the PC.

Do you remember if the boat was taking damage during a trip through Ocean biome or near the shoreline, in other biomes? I'm asking this because I can see through the surface when there are waves (not a directX11 card), and I can assure you that in non Ocean biomes, where the water is "brownish" on the map, there can be a bass with a lot of rocks (or even ground) just a few meters under the surface. In case of waves, the boat can then be slammed on those reefs, quite repeatedly.
The same for a boat anchored where it shouldn't, as said by the others.

I am not stupid. I can tell when a boat is hitting ground or rocks vs the bug. It is easy because the damage is a constant tick, that doesn't match up with the waves.

I also get this from time to time.

Calm seas, no rocks, no shallows. I'll be minding my own business and them WHAM 10dmg. From nothing. I'm not grounding the boat, I'm not hitting anything.

It happens on both Single Player and on Servers. YMMV. Some folks never get it, some get it constantly.

This IS a bug.

it's kind of curious if i think about it, but i haven't experienced the "10 damage out of nothing" bug in a long, long time... Could it be that the Karve is more likely to be affected for some reason?

YOu get some dmg sometimes like 10 or so. But it happens like once per 20 minutes? I've sailed a lot and never got my boat destroyed. If you are an idiot sailing into rocks dont blame the game XD

FFS it is a bug, just because you haven't experienced doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It isnt every 20 minutes, more like every 5 to 10 seconds.

Perhaps it could be a rare bug where one collision ray glitches and encounters an "obstacle" (a seam between water surfaces? a crazy distance that makes it hit seabed?) and this triggers a damage routine.

The bug is very variable, causing confusion when discussing it. We get it every five minutes or so while sailing, not enough to actually threaten the boat. Others are dealing with it every few seconds in harbour, making boats practically unusable.
