Portal Hubs...
I can't be the only one that uses these mid game onward? (obviously not starting with all those at once). Know a better way? The components for portals are crazy commonplace, no reason not to I say.

Edit: Missed the other thread discussing portals. Alas.

It would sure be nice if the made ONE Portal that controlled 3-10 other Portals. Like a Dial-A-Portal. Just a list of other portals. Would save me a TON of room lol

I have a large octagon two story structure with portals lining the inner walls. I also have an emergency portal in the center of the room. Any time I am heading into new territory or farming materials/loot I will bring the components for a portal with me, then I can build it and connect to the emergency portal wherever I need it.

Well you can just change the tag on the portal to make it connect to a different one.

There is a mod for this.

You only need a lot of room if you want permanent pairs setup for everywhere. Whilst I do sort of like that idea, currently my hub only has 2 portals, which is all you need to operate a minimal hub style network. One is the 'service' portal used to dial out to wherever I want to go, the other has a static address so there is always a portal to dial into from elsewhere.

Maybe in the future if I do build a mega-castle somewhere then I'll put in some permanent links, maybe not to every portal I have but to the 'main' outpost on each landmass or for access to each biome.

I have my travel Portal set up inside my base so I return there when exploring. I have a large room with my "permanent" Portals to different areas.

We name our portals the base name or map location (Dragonbak, Flintrock, or West, Southbase. We also keep a default portal to connect back to when exploring new areas.

I have a Tower of Portals, two Stories tall so far.

In the middle is my Castle Portal.
Surrounding that, are portals in every direction.
All portals must link to this Hub
The only way inside this Tower is via a Portal
And there is only one set to go from Tower to Castle.

This is the best setup I've managed so far, as Dialing Out became tedious and time consuming. Though I still like to imagine I'm Dialing Out like SG1

Well you can just change the tag on the portal to make it connect to a different one.
Careful with that, the change takes a few seconds to process and you can easily send yourself to a portal that's just about to be cut off.

Post a screenshot if you have time. I like the idea of having the only way in is through a portal.

That's why I have 2 portals at the 'hub', since 1 always has the same address I can always dial back to it unless I've really screwed up and left it with another connection active.
Even outside of dialing errors with the service portal (happened a few times for sure) it's also useful for when I end up travelling between other portal locations on foot.
