Reinforced chests
I've noticed that youtube videos rarely show anyone using the reinforced chests. Is that just because they've recently been improved and there was no point before? is there some reason not to use them? They take up more space, and it's hard to justify using the iron for them before you've geared up, but other than that, they seem like a solid improvement to me.

they are - they offer way more storage slots
only to be topped by black metal chests
which are bigger but have even more storage slots

these are for multiplayer and if you dont really trust your partners , that chest have like 10k hp but only 4 slots

I believe that’s because people organize their storage area before they get enough iron to waste it on reinforced chests. Process of reorganizing storage area can be very tedious. I did it only when i lost inspiration for other projects.

Yeah, it's a pain to reorganize chests once they have been put down. For example, at our Spawnpoint community hub, we have an established area with about 30 chests. My goth, imagine having to resort all of those stuff... [sigh]

imho its not so hard to reorganize as it seems
often i found myself organizing the chests even better then before

I find it odd players use a big storage area, I store stuff where they are needed ... craft stuff near the benches, food stuff near the kitchen and junk near the obliterator, some chests for stuff not so easily to catergorise.
So upgrading is relatively easy for me.

You're talking about the "personal chest" items. Reinforced chests are the large ones that require iron and fine wood.

I think the big chests are definitely worth it simply because they can hold so much more. Not needing a dozen chests in my kitchen area, but only 5-6, is a great improvement. The chests do take up more floor space, but if you build with that it mind it isn't an issue.

Once you get the gear, Iron is far more of a ball ache to get. If your base is near the plains, you accumulate green metal by the bucketload.

I consider iron more scarce than green metal.

Personly i prefer having 2 black chest as it has the same amount of slots as your inventory.
One for Materials for my workbenches and one for ingredients nearby my cauldron.
I do also have a organized storage room with ordinary chests and in my kitchen. But when I want to cook or make an item I do not want to run around and open several chests. It's more convinient to just have one chest to take what you need.
Reinforced chest can be useful in that way also btw. :)

For me this is mostly because there isn't a ton of recipes that use black metal. It feels like iron is used in everything. As soon as I got black metal chests I replaced all my reinforced chests with those instead which recouped some iron.

I just found it curious that I rarely saw them in youtube videos, just the basic chests. For me, ten slots just isn't enough. It was making me nuts, rummaging through multiple chests. But yeah, it seems like a waste to use iron for anything that isn't crucial.

Ah yes , but you need kill moder to make huge BM chest , meanwhile iron chest are very usefull

iron chest is nice and all if you dont mind getting past the endless draugers and abominations that have like 999999999hp.
or you could peacefully take down a tree or two for wooden chest
thats my take on it anyways. just way easier for slightly less space

Iron's not *that* scarce, it's just that it has so many other important uses like huge building projects. In comparison black metal is a renewable resource that's pretty much just for chests once you max out your favourite weapon.
