If I format my pc will I lose my world I've built in the game ?
Tried to check this by deleting the folder in which saved world exists in the %appdata%/roaming , and it seems that I haven't lost anything, but still I need to make sure.

Your savegame is saved in the Steam Cloud (if enabled), but it's always better to back-up your savefiles manually (especially when formatting drives, etc).

The world and character saves shouldn't be in roaming, and instead are here: C:\Users\me\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim

Just back that entire folder up and you should be fine.

If you are not using Steam Cloud, which you should NOT use, your save file will be under users/NAME/AppData/LocalLow/IronGate

why shouldn't I though?

I wouldn't say not to use steam cloud. It works fine for many people. Unless you have issues I would leave it on.

Best to back up as others have stated but with steam cloud on you should be fine and not have to use it.

If you look through the Bug forum, countless players have had problems with Cloud Saving. However, if it has worked for you so far, continue to use it. My only suggestion is to keep periodic back-ups of your save files.

PS: I almost always answer a split second after someone else. ^_^' To the Steam Gods: live updates to forum posts please?

Steam cloud can mess up for many reasons like improper shutdown of game/computer.

Steam cloud sync seems to happen when game starts and closes. So it slows down opening games a bit but I have had no issues with corrupted saves or lost progress.

Some people have lost progress issues ... and who know what monkey wrench modding could throw in.... but if your game seems fine, like mine, I would just leave it on.

Game also has multiple saves backed up so you can go back one if it ever does mess up.
But again that is something I have not had to do.

If you play with a lot of mods and your game crashes regularly then I would avoid cloud.

And how long have you been using Steam sync cloud ?
I've noticed its function, 2-3 months. Was it there longer ?

Years.
Pretty sure Killing Floor is cloud sync only... without steam you start level 0

So basically 7000hrs combined from Killing Floor
Some stupid amount of hours in PD2
4000+ hrs in Kerbal Space Program
1700hrs in this game

I have never had issues... but I did start making backups when I started to play PD2 due to the insane grind for levels.

Never had to use any, but it is better to have them just in case.

cloud saving has been a nightmare for me, in this and other games.

The three most important things to consider while computing:

1. Backups
2. Backups
3. Backups

You don't backup your sh**, you lose it. Don't say I didn't warn you.
