workbench needs a roof
I have made a tiny wood hut it has floor, walls and roof.
I built a workbench and its enclosed inside the small hut .
When I tried to use the workbench it says it needs a roof , so i built a second workbench and it said the same message.

How do I make i so I can use the workbench ?

Cheers

put 2 walls behind the workbench, and 1 more on each side of it, making a small U shaped thing. Now slap a roof on that, 4 pieces, from the 2 connected walls (first ones I said), roof off that over the bench and then one more off that roof same direction.
it should now be a true shelter. When its done you can 'use' it and get the crafting menu:

This is the answer.

Either those workbenches are clipping through the wall and it's technically exposed on the other side or you haven't got actual roof pieces above it.

dont use the floor pieces as roof even though u can use the slanted hay like pieces cuz i did that too and it said mine need a roof so i changed it and it worked make a back wall a side wall for each side and the slanted hay like pieces

slanted hay like pieces

They're called "roof". ;)

currently real roof pieces are the best solution to get the workbench covered

after the patch my lean-to sheds covering crafting tables no longer were enough - walls on 3 sides and a roof... needed a floor. i also noticed, and i'm a bit disappointed by it, that i can no longer snap pieces through each other - example: can no longer make a peak "X" just by placing two logs, only one will snap into place, the other needs to be eye-balled with L-shift. It's crap.

Still works for me?

The workbenches are maybe to close to the wall, that they comes out at the other side...

I was using floor pieces, so I added the slanted thatch roof pieces and now I can use the workbench..

Thanks for all your comments and help.

Cheers.

Perhaps, the system could be adjusted so that not having a red blueprint is enough to warrant any "hitbox" from passing through walls (to settle the "exposed through walls" issue). Then only, you need protection from exposition and a roof.
