Personally, I use Farm Grid and since making a grid to put down crops and trees is the only thing it does, I believe it is unlikely to mess anything up. But, there are never any guarantees with mods. I'm also not sure how long the wait for test to go live will be.
Thanks for the advice. I've had a bit of a look and while "Farm Grid" looks alright, I saw something similar that piqued my interest.
Ok.
Indeed, no-one is forcing me. I would just like to grow some crops without needing to aim at each individual plant to harvest it.
I was under the impression that holding E to harvest multiple plants doesn't work - at least it doesn't seem to work for me this way.
Found that a wee bit tedious at first too.. 'til I figured out I can just look at the ground, line the reticule up, hold E, and walk down the row auto-picking everything (only seems to work right if auto-loot is on). O' course I don't have a huge farm.. goes pretty quick for me ;)
Another good mod btw is Seed Totem. You can use surtling core and a few other mats to create a totem that you can load up with plantable items. It will then plant stuff accordingly and you can whack it to harvest all ready crops. You can change its radius, or go with a square version.
This is probably the easiest of the bunch since you can Load All seeds and it will crank away indefinitely. As soon as you pick one crop it starts planting in its place.
In any case, we already know the patch is going to mess up any existing explored areas, so anyone far enough along will likely restart anyways and just bring their character and most important loot with them.
Secondly, if the patch breaks the mod (unlikely since its been around a while), you can just remove the mod with no issues.
Which is why there is a few mods that fixes this for you.
Edit1: I could give the names of the mods if needed.
Edit2: There is a mod named Massfarming:
"Mod to assist with large scale farming in Valheim"
And as someone said futher up, Farmgrid:
"Allows for all plants planted with the cultivator to automatically be snapped and placed into a grid in which they will have enough space to grow."
Holding e totally works for harvesting crops but I am not skilled enough to do it running. Walking works fine for me though.
Potentially. I do enjoy the genre, but uni eats up a lot of time these days so you're probably thinking of someone else.
My OCD is forcing me ...
