Fully upgraded Root Armor or Wolf Armor for Moder?
I havent done Moder solo yet, and I am on the precipice of spawning her in. Wondering if anyone has used fully upgraded Root Armor and how well it holds up against her... I prefer the movement speed of light armor but if it cant take more than 2 hits, then Im using Wolf.

This all depends on how well your dodge and stamina management is, If you wanna stick with root, I would say stamina potions are almost mandatory. Depending on what food you use its, 2-3hits=dead

Im not sure about wolf because I always skipped it. But I guess I will make you more tanky.. maybe 3-4hits?

Im planning to use Wolf Skewer, Eyescream, and Onion Soup. Thats what I used for food last time and did ok. Granted, we fought her as a group (3 of us) so we were able to keep shifting who she was aggroed on, and kite her mostly. But this time Im solo and keeping it that way for a personal challenge. Guess I'll find out tonight. Just need 4 more stacks of silver to finish upgrading the Wolf Armor. And I dont use pots except for fire, poison, and frost resist. The cooldowns for health and stamina pots are too long and forget I to use them by the time I can anyhow.
Thanks for your input though!

Troll armour works fine so I'd imagine root armour would be slightly better, use bonemass and melee when you get the chance cause you get more damage in that way

Tons of arrows..a back up bow in case yours breaks. Use bone mass. make sure there are no Gloems in the area that might spawn during the fight (kill them first)

Wolf armor maxed.

Arrows : Needle > Obsidian > Fire > Poison > everything else.

Use Wolf Armor and then when Modor is down, jump on her and start pick axing her. Once she is close to death then you need to run up and fist punch her until dead.

This is how my last fight went on a mp server.

Just dig a trench, cover half of it with wood floors. Hide in the trench and pelt her down with arrows. Hide under the floors when she attacks.

Nope.
First of all you aren't supposed to have needle at that point.
Also Poison beats fire anytime desptie the boss being weak to fire because fire arrows are too weak to begin with.
Additionally poison will typically win over obsidian too in the flying phase becasue you most likely won't be able to shoot enough obsidian into her while she is moving around and shooting stuff at you.
Ground phase is different but melee will easily outdamage ranged during that anyway.

Just hit attack her in with melee attacks during the ground phase. You will do far more damage. I have never broken a bow on her.

You can make needle arrows before killing Modor. I think I made like 200 for that fight in a multiplayer game (barely used any as I was having fun jumping on her with pick axe and then fist bashing her when she was nearly dead).

Plains is super easy to traverse once you have Root Armor for the pierce resistance. Worthwhile for the Lox Meat, Deathsquito drops and Cloud Berries which are really good quantity and quality wise for a decent stamina food item.

i guess i'm a bit late, but i'll write it anyway... i got one-shot by Moder's ice projectile in fully upgraded root armor set + best health food. It was on MP server, 3 players vs Moder so her dmg was increased a little.
Going solo i would never choose root over wolf armor.
If you choose root armor anyway, i suggest you prepare the ground before you summon her. Use hoe and raise a few pillars of ground which you can use as cover when she fires her ice projectiles. Also don't forget frost res. potion and Bonemass power (i did :steamfacepalm:)

you’d be better off going no armor over root armor since moder’s attacks deal so much base damage you’d die in 1-2 hits anyway. Wolf armor is easily the better choice.

Agreed, but optimally, if your feeling brave, dip a toe into the plains and try to get the padded armor.

Thats not a very good menu my man since H&H update
Best food before one can farm flour its : serpent stew , coocked serpent meat ( or wolf skewer ) and eyescream , for hp+hp+stamina
if you want stamina : serpent stew+eyescream+turnip soup ( better than onion soup because have + time and its the last stamina food that gives 2 hp regeneration , after that one all gives 1 )
Lox meat got huge nerf in this update , giving just 50 hp and 16 stamina

I don't need to be told that certain food items which take a lot more time to gather all components would obviously be better then Lox Meat or Cloudberries. Bringing up serpent meat is just a lol because I'm talking about both QUANTITY and quality and Serpent hunting can be rather quite rng whereas finding lox / cloudberries are far easier.

Efficiency wise Cloudberries are really good because a patch can easily yield 10 berries for a stamina supplement that one doesn't have to spend a lot of time on. Lox are less so as they can take awhile to kill depending on how you go about it - but lox cape / carpet can be good to get for early mountain traversal (easier to craft lox cape imo - I think wolf cape requires the wolf trophy) and additional comfort.
