why not allow mods
i dont see why we cant mod this game. it would be great to have a steam workshop for this game. unless it's gonna become a much bigger form of multiplayer game

True, but that has nothing to do with not allowing mods.

The game is in early access. They won't touch the possibility of adding mods officially, or even think of a steam workshop until the game is released or near release.

by that i meant officially supported ones. i'm not talking about not allowing people to get some form of unofficial loader to do it.

Setting up and maintaining workshop support for a game is by all accounts a whole other game's worth of work. Might as well change engine midstream.

You can outside of unsecured websites like nexus and what ever websites out there. I wouldnt trust much for the mods coming from outside of Steam workshop, seen enough the garbage people do with mods when they are not checked properly. If a game is on Steam, is possible to mod and has no access to Workshop, its pretty fudged up.

You can officially support mods without a workshop. The workshop just a medium.

it doesn't feel official outside workshop and or hosted by the devs.

Like trying to switch from Unity to Unreal after years of development. *Glances sideways at Night Dive Studios*

I kinda understand the desire for something official. But at this time and age.. I dont see the need wasting precious developer time for something that gets done by passionate community members or hobby modder.

I dont even remember one game besides cities skylines that support it lol.

I also can't offhand recall an incident of malware hiding out in game mods. Sometimes in the download hosting sites and their bit.ly ads but that's a universal browser security issue.
