How do you get the log pole?

I've killed the first boss but my building is held back until I can unlock the log pole. How do you do it?

get the material from the pines in the dark woods biome

Corewood may be obtained from Pine trees which you will find in the Black Forest biome.

and btw. When you unlock them make some nails and the wetstone.
Even if you think you dont need them because you have no recipe asking for them.

You can even get core wood in small quantities in meadow with a basic axe. The campsites with 2 very small angled shelters use a few pieces of log pole.

Thanks, side question - I've been building my main base in meadow.. if they're having me leave meadow already, should I be setting up a long-ish term shop here?

It's a good idea at the beginning. you can get the finewood from white trees and built portals to teleport you to other bases. but you can not teleport metal ores or ingots.

Having at least a Small portal base at start is helpfull to switch the boss powers
