Why is there even a sail in the game ?
Why is there even a sail in the game when the wind always hits you from the front anyway ?

It´s not always like this, you just have bad luck. I had the same bad luck a while ago, no matter which direction I wanted to explore the wind changed against me lol.

Just coincidence really. It´s totally random.

it took me a little while to figure it out too, I thought the little arrow on the mini map was the wind at first xD

play around with it awhile and watch the wind icon you will get it.

you can get stuck with a bad wind in the middle of the ocean and not be able to go where you want so be careful

That little white arrow on the mini map *is* the wind direction. While using a rudder the boat GUI also shows wind direction based on your heading, and you can easily see if the wind is against you or not.

You can NEVER get "stuck" no matter which direction the wind is blowing. The first foward speed, and the reverse speed, are rudder only. It doesn't matter which direction the wind is blowing when you're using those. You may not be able to go quickly, but you can always head in the direction you want to go.

Also, tacking...

You can always go in the direction you want but you can't always do that with the sails up.

You'll find out once you kill 4th boss.

yep you can always paddle all the way to where you need to go. I've done a lot of exploring in my world and sometimes you just have to paddle. Ofc depending on how far in the game you are it can be dangerous to be crossing the sea since the wind can suddenly turns but that's part of the adventure.

That's what I meant ... I am paddeling like 90% of the time, because the wind is always coming from where I want to go. And when I want to go back, it turns and comes from the front again.
A LOT of bad luck I guess...

I've noticed this as well. I'm not completely convinced it's just bad luck, either. As Katitoff said, beating the 4th boss gives you the ability to control the wind direction. If there's a mechanic offered as a reward to change the way wind works to your benefit, it seems very possible (maybe even likely) there is some truth to the wind being mostly always against you before getting that bonus ability... it makes that reward seems even better. Obviously you can change sailing direction faster than the wind, so it not ALWAYS fighting you.

Wind is super easy to deal with. Look a the indicator and see if the wind is WHITE or BLACK. If it's white, you have full power, if it's black you must use 1st gear (paddle only). Tack into the wind by angling your ship around 30 degrees to the wind's direction. Diagonally into the wind and make sure the indicator is always white.
