Survivalgame-communities are something for themselves. Always funny to read Discussions about such games xD.
People defend the mechanics of the game because those mechanics are what they like about the game. Building a base you have to defend with no warning is what makes the base building interesting. It's not just a cool base, it's a cool defended base.
You should only ever get 1-3 trolls spawning her wave.
Even very early game fresh after killing the first boss I never really had issues with troll raids. Never had to really cheeze their ai or such. I just went out and pew pewed. Heck their raids are why I have so much troll hide that I hope they really give us more uses for it.
The problem is YOU, the warning system you are proposing is not needed and by a large majority of these posts it is not even wanted.

This is why for my 3rd play through I went to modding. The mod Custom Raids lets you make and share your own raids. I've created a few that allow old raids to still happen, but they become harder to deal with as you progress, like more mobs spawn, and higher chanse at 1-2 star versions to pop up, so you get more variety in raids and they ramp up as you progress.
Like the drakes once you beat the Miss 'im just gona fly off way over here and make you have to climb up to poke me' not only get drakes, but wolves on top of it. once you meat yog, the golems join the mix and everything else get bumped up to mostly 1-2 star spawns.
Plus custom biome restricted raids and open world raids. Just one of the mods I'm using to add in extra challenge to the base game.
I had only just repaired my weapons and was about to resume my chores when i was suddenly attacked by the Swap raid, lol.
This has happened twice now, in a relatively short space of time; a Troll attack followed by a Swamp attack.
On another note, i had a 3rd Swamp attack that only had a couple of Skellies, which i left to die on my Stakes and aftera few minutes the event 'timed out' so to speak and the remaining mobs just walked back into the forest.
Ami to assume that in some cases you could just hole up/perma-kite these mobs until the event ends?
There are ways to prevent spawning in the base. I have some fairly large bases and never have things spawn in them.
Makes more sense for the developers to work on meaningful things rather things that are not an issue.
