Carts
Okay, so the purpose of carts (correct me if I'm wrong) is to haul a lot and potentially heavy materials over medium distances, right? The thing is that when I have a cart loaded with ore or even stones, the handling, speed and ability to cross some terrain is completely lost, I can't even get it over negligible hills let alone up some stairs into my base, making it essentially useless in an area where it should excel at.

I know, I know, realism. But weight doesn't slow down our Viking nor boats, so...why carts? It's bad enough that they get stuck in or damaged by every damn bush or rock. At the very least I would propose a skill like Strength or Hauling or whatever that improves its handling and speed, though I would prefer an outright buff or rather equalisation with boats/Viking.

carts are fragile and cumbersome..

use your hoe to cut a path/road
sprint with eilkthier stamina buff with being well fed

ive found having 2wide stairs makes it alot easier to park the wheelbarrel on the front porch..

also ive noticed i keep having to adjust my terrain at the bottom of the steps of my house, or jump that tiny lip to get on the stairs..

Two things you can do with the stairs: one, snap one more set to the bottom that will 95% be clipped underground but will remove the jumping requirement; two, instead of snapping stairs you can use the long wooden beam, position to snap to bottom of stair case and fiddle around with it. You'll see that you can snap to the bottom half of the snap position making your own additional step. When you do it right you can walk up it onto the staircase, no jumping required.

Stamina isn't the issue here, it's actually getting from point A to B if there is a slight obstacle in the way. I realize that I could potentially mine and hoe my way through the land to have a flat path, but that just seems like a rather cumbersome way around an issue that shouldn't exist, no?

figured this one out last night ;o)

it is a bit of work to make a decent roadway, but in the end the ease of travel is worth it

My stairs are as smooth as an androids bottom. But the damn cart can't ascend them due to the weight..

I just use my ship for ores :/ Ill find somewhere as close as I can get it, then just run back and forth from the boat

My road from the mountain to the sea especially made for carts, took a minute and half to make.

First off, I highly doubt that estimate on its build time, secondly it doesn't solve the issue of loaded carts being physically incapably of ascending anything that is steeper that a bubblegum on the ground.

carts go slower then more weight they have.. sometimes you have to sprint to get going.. i can pull my cart up my stairs just fine... granted i run out of stam after a minute.. but it does go..
lighten the load, use stam sprint buff be well fed, stam lasts alot longer so you CAN sprint up the stairs with your cart

If I lighten the load I can, yes. But if you read my OP, then you would know that carts being the one and only thing affected by weight while (akin to boats) specifically built to haul weight is silly.

Cart is great thing if you need a cheap and huge storage. And its usefull when you have to transport ore from digsite to your boat (medium distance). And that's all.

a slight bit of realism applied to the cart is ok.. may be a pain in the ass sometimes, but i feel it is manageable enough ;o)
sidenote: as your run skill increases you can sprint longer, which makes it a lil less of a chore

Again, it's not about me running out of stamina or not knowing that there is a sprint ability, it's the fact that a cart loaded with some ore (doesn't even have to be full, like 10 stacks or so of silver suffice) is literally impossible to be hauled up small hills, let alone some stairs. But apparently nobody perceives this as an issue and I am the only one who thinks that this design choice is somewhat strange and robs the cart of one out of 2 uses (ore->boat and ore->base).

Edit: Granted, it's bearable (or rather dragable) for wood and stone in non-excessive amounts.

i guess i have to respectfully disagree.. for me it is a non-issue.. im sorry you are having a hard time with it ;o)

we have terraforming tools for a reason.. carve and build works well for me.. i enjoy the mechanic

it is strange that the boats ignore weight. I suspect that the devs would fix the boats rather than make the carts no longer realistic though....
not sure what the best answer is. I am a bit lazy, and I just load up on stamina food and haul the goods up the stairs under heavy load in my backpack. Its less frustrating. You can actually walk a pretty long way like that, with 3 of the best stam foods.
