Day time is too short and Valhiem is too dark.
We need brighter nights or longer day times, its really making the game difficult to play

I'd appreciate some different rate of time settings but you can sleep through the night. A camping mechanic to do that out in the wild would be good.

I can agree that days are.. seemingly shorter than they should be.

Considering you can sleep through the night, I would personally be okay with longer days and nights.

I used my Monitor brightness settings and NVIDIA Control Panel and the nights are are just too dark and makes the game unplayable, I feel like they should make visibility during nights better because you shouldn't have to skip nights,.

I totally support this. The nights being more dangerous is not the issue. I love the more dangerous nights. I'd prefer them to be even more dangerous. But daytime is too damn short. Like, ridiculously short. Then you sleep and have 1/4th of the "daytime" either dark and rainy or dark and foggy or all three. It's supremely annoying.

If hte game seems to dark you might need to adjust the gamma setting on your driver. This is a different setting than brightness and should probably be the first one you try adjusting.

I had the same issue with the view in game being almost completely black at night, even with a torch it was like walking in a black fog. After i tweaked the gamma a little it improved significantly. There was a thread awhile back requesting an in game gamma setting for just this reason. Seems that on some installs the game is just too dark at times.

As to the day not being long enough I have to dissagree, 21 minutes is a reasonable amount of time, with the 9 minut night it make a "day" a tidy 30 minutes IRL. And it's also plenty of time to get enough resources to craft a hammer and axe then build a basic shelter with a bed and fire.

This is of course just my opinion based on being used to a 21 minute day, First survival game I ever played was Mincraft which had a 20 minute day, though MC also had a 20 minute might. if your used to games having longer days I can understand it might be bothersome

Check you're monitors RGB range is set to full (0~255) and the same for Nvidia control panel under adjust colour video settings (advanced).

You can always use a torch or Dverger Circlet...

its dark in swamp and forest, but very bright in plains/mountains/meadows

I've never had issues with the game being too dark, except in dungeons where it's intended.

Days are long enough, as far as I'm concerned. Nights even seem too short sometimes, like when hunting for serpents.

i think the day length is fine in basic game. cuz sometimes you want to do things during day and sometimes during night. and (iirc it's ~1min per game hour) 20 or so minutes per day give a nice pace.

but if you want to make days longer...there are already mods for it: day cycle for example https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/98

This is why you can buy a headlamp from the trader, or make and use torches.

On some systems even those won't help. as I mentioend earlier when i started the game it was way to dark at night and even a torch didn't help. Even with a torch i couldn't see more than a few meters, without the torch is was just impossible to do anything at night or even insdie in some instances

In my case it was caused by the default gamma/brightness settings of my system not being set to what the game devs had on their systems when they play test it. After I adjusted my graphics driver a littel everythign was fine.

it would be a huge help if there was a gamma setting in the game's graphics settings because changing it in the driver messed with the other games I have. Thankfully they have gamma adjustment as part of their own config.
