I know this doesn't help AFTER you have lost your death location, but for future reference... Mark your map when you die.
Last week I had a furling raid on my poorly defended base and died 4 times before the foolish Berzerkers trashed my wolf breeder. Needless to say that turned them all into wolf p**p in short order. After reclaiming my gear on the tombstones (I had backup armor and weapons on them) I looked at my map and there were 4 little skull and crossbones still splashed over my base...
on the other hand i've read that corpses despawn after some time (i believe it's 1hr or so).
If there are multiple death statues shown on the map, it was put in during a recent update. It used to be that only one death statue would show on the map and it was always only the latest death.
You should play the latest update (hearth and home) or at least read the patch bites before giving advice next time.
The death markers on the map even note the day you died now. 😂
Grave markers do not despawn over time,
There are cases where tombstones are magically lost, but that is a bug/glitch in the game. Although you can die in a place you can not get to without death so it's lost. But it is obvious and easy to avoid.
I have read all the patch notes, including H&H and even just went back to read through all of them again, and see no mention of death markers whatsoever.... likely part of the "and more" statement at the bottom of the partial list of notes for H&H??
Anyhow I have been playing H&H, but so far haven't died, so the information I gave was based on what was true, pre-H&H where only one death marker would appear, and that being the last place the player died, as well as the fact that death statues, containing the players' gear, was persistent meaning would not de-spawn until the gear was collected.
so your 'advice' to me is to read the patch notes before giving advice, so please explain to me WHERE in the patch notes it mentions death markers... Maybe YOU should read the patch notes yourself next time.
