Valheim
Valheim vs Terraria
I know they are 2 completely different games, yet both of them have many similarities.
Let's do a fight and let's see what people think.

they arent the same you must be insane to compare them
please educate yourself better, read through my last post, no one has claimed they are the same. the devs themselves have stated, a few times now, that Terraria, Dark Souls and Legend of Zelda are among the main inspirations for Valheim and its mechanics.

Lol, Valheim and Terraria are nothing alike. The only similarity they have is that you mine and craft in both of them.

you are seriously daft, and obviously don't pay attention to the mechanics very much. there are many similarities beyond what you listed.
The main difference as I see it (and why I find myself surprised to choose Terraria over Valheim): Terraria is a more than complete game, having had years to mature and even be redone. You can actually finish Terraria, then start it over and play through in a completely different way. The same can't be said for Valheim, though from a 3D perspective Valheim can be more interesting for building.

Lets compare apples and tomatoes, they have many similarities! They're both fruits and have seeds....well that's about it.

both red?

*edit : both edible , plant life, found on Earth, grow in soil, come from plants with green leaves, rigid cell structure, i digress

Terraria is complete, Valheim has around five more years of development to go. Specially at their current pace.
when terraria was released a decade ago it had less contentent then valheim right now iirc. but it grew to enormous size during those years (31-34 bosses).
on the other hand valheim's plans are more humble with only 9 biomes planned.

(but i'll choose valheim any time. terraria has no graphics :P)
My big problem with Terraria is it has far too much feature bloat for how small the game is. Like, the amount of Gameplay content is what I wish was present in say, Minecraft, with its effectively infinite world size.

Terraria also has a lot of clashing mechanic and item themes. Like, you have swords up against laser rifles up against wizard magic. It's just so all over the place with absolutely no cohesion whatsoever. Like it would be one thing if there was technological progression, but essentially from mid game onward, you're juggling tech from 1250AD to Star Date 4424.48.11

Also, what is up with games and seasonal ♥♥♥♥? I get MMOs, but like even single player games are getting garbage seasonal theme DLC or "Events" and nothing ever sucks me out of a game more than that.

Lol, Terraria is feature bloat for its game size? Terraria is not a small game, one can play hundreds perhaps thousands of hours and still not see everything that there is for vanilla content. And if you were referring the Terraria world map sizes, they aren't exactly small either. Yea they are finite with bounds, but its still literally millions of tiles in playable area.

Terraria also isn't really set in anyone time period, nor in reality (clearly...). Yea its starts off as 2D survival crafting game, where you build a shelter to defend yourself from the first night zombie horde, and then gather materials to expand and upgrade your ability until you make your way through the progression of bosses. Just because the tiers of progression don't mirror historical themes or technology, but instead are rooted in makebelieve and fantasy, doesn't make the progression imbalanced. The classes of combat are actually pretty well defined, with melee, ranged, magic, and summoning... and each have higher tier upgrades as the game progresses. Terraria does a plethora of choices in terms of gear, ranging from conventional and traditional to the silly and zany, I grant you that. But there is something for everyone, always something new to try.

Terraria is also more sandboxy gameplay, due to its size of content. Valheim is more restrictive, in that there are fewer enemies per biome, less gear and outfit options per tier, with bosses that typically require a meta choice of weapon to defeat (ie, defeating bonemass with blunt..). Terraria has many more approaches in solutions for a player's problems.

One thing I like about Terraria over Valheim, is that once you progress past a certain biome's tier, there is always reason to go back typically.... grinding for particular chance based loot drops for something you need or want keeps the game fresh... whereas in Valheim once you have the resources you have there isn't much reason to venture back to similar areas except for the sake of exploring them. Valheim peaks much quicker in that regard.
