Metal nodes and respawns of them.
I am playing on a multiplayer server and starting to get concerned in that all the ore is finite and will eventually run out.
So with bronze and iron arrows being used by the players what happens when all this material runs out?

eh why not May 11, 2021 @ 9:21am
There is a finite amount of ore. There should be plenty for several players unless you are doing massive building projects.

The map is so big there is no way you will ever run out.

With enough players and an extended playthrough in the thousands of days, I could see it becoming hard to find.

...or using Bronze and iron arrows. Such a waste of resources.

Wood (OP) arrows FTW until Needles...(used in conjunction with elemental arrows of course).

You will eventually run out, but not until long after youve finished the game. When/If you run out completely, you can just hop into a new seed, mine ore, then log back into your main seed and presto, ore.

I find it hard to believe all the metal on a map could be used, regardless of buildings. I've got 6 massive bases and ore is still everywhere.

WHY do people use anything else than wood arrows? For lvling the Archer skill your hits count, not the dmg you do and the higher the skill is the more dmg and crits you do. Except for Bosses I never use anything else than wooden arrows, even furlings go down fast with em. Just a waste of metals.

Who cares what arrows people use, that's not the point.

just move onto next world then

still... as someone already said you would need 1k+ days to dig all ore ;D
and it's about irl days not ingame days

How is this relevant in anyway?

If you don't spend all week leveling up your bow skill, higher tier arrows simply do more damage. Wood arrows suck.

Guess you didn`t try so far xD As for lvling since I prefer playing ranged I don`t need to lvl that skill all week, I just shoot most stuff down. Goes up natural that way while doing other stuff. There`s TWO arrow types that come to my mind that don`t waste resources since all you need for them will replenish itself. The flint arrows and the needle arrows you can craft from deathsquito drops. All the others are a waste of metal in my opinion.

Yea I don't really use the metal tips unless I pick them up, but no way would I waste my time with wood over flint.
Megahurts May 11, 2021 @ 11:58am
Even flint aren't worth it for me...8 wood for 20 arrows or 8 wood plus flint plus feathers?
I would wood every time...saving my feathers for fire arrows, etc and needlers later on.

Now if wood arrows required feathers, it might be worth it to upgrade to flint etc. Maybe they should actually....'cause otherwise, the wood arrows are OP due to the low resource cost.

I think copper is not a problem, there will be plenty of it on every map. What had worried me some time ago (where my thread comes from whether armor is relevant at all) that iron and as I have noticed also silver in a very long game and with more people, can become scarce. Especially because the only thing that keeps many on such community servers so long, is building. Since besides building actually not so much content is in Valheim except grinding.

Especially when new people join a server that is already day 1k+ you have to go very far out to find iron, or be content with the wishbone on small iron deposits outside of the crypts (if these have not already been farmed out).

I recently left my community server because the people became more and more incative and I'm sometimes had to travel really far out to find swamps with crypts. The map is big, yes, but especially crypts are a matter of luck. Not every swamp has crypts and not every crypt has lots of iron.

But I think it's okay the way it is. You really have to build a lot(or have to make 1000 and 1000 of arrows) to use up all the iron and I would rather consider people who reach this point lucky that the server has been active for so long than sad about it.
