generally just spawn the stuff back using commands or recover character backup, it should give at least soem of the lost stuff

I've heard of tombstones ending up inside trees or boulders, or possibly under the ground. You could try using admin commands to look for it, or even respawn what you've lost.

Did you die trying to retrieve your body? Because when you die again trying to get your lost equipment: the game removes the location of your original death on the map and replaces with your new death location. In this case, your stuff may still be there, but you'll need to search for it without the help of your map. And the top of a mountain is a big place to look

(Because this happened to me. I thought there could be a bug but it turns out that I had forgotten the "exact" location I originally died, and eventually found it after a long and difficult search of the whole area. So unless you have an absolutely excellent memory, always mark the precise location of your original death on the map before running back to get it.)
