as far as I've toyed around in console, there is no weather settings and the nearest you can get is adjusting wind direction it seems?
Console and commands were both enabled, and env Clear is supposed to stop rain from what I can find, but it only worked for my girlfriend as she was the host. It was a bright, sunny day for her while it was bucketing down rain for me. She didn't end up soaked by the rain if she was outside but I did, she didn't see the massive waves throwing the boat around, etc. I put in the same code, after making sure devcommands=true, and it did nothing.
The command only working for my girlfriend but not me kinda... makes it seem that commands AREN'T functional in multiplayer.
admin commands are avaible to admins
cheat commands are avaible to host
it's perfectly functional, and that's how it is supposed to be
you can use mod that changes rules and make it so "cheat commands are avaible to everyone", but it won't come to vanilla I guess
So commands that the host uses that are supposed to impact the world, are just supposed to be client-side for the host only? That doesn't sound right to me. Weather commands, worldgen stuff like regenerating an area so that new content is added to an older world, and stuff like that don't feel like they *should* be client-side.
I'm not wanting to be able to use host commands when I'm not the host. I'm wanting host commands that impact the world, to not be client-side only.
they are not client-side (because of that noone can use cheat commands on dedicated server because there is no host)
and they are not client-side just like I explained ;D
you need client-side mod to make commands client-side so anyone can use those commands
just cheat using the mod ;d
----------------
or maybe you don't talk about commands being on specific side but mean that effects of commands aren't send to everyone?
the important commands are indeed send the effect to everyone
but temporary-override commands don't (raids/wind/env for example)
It's still client-side even if it's the host, because it isn't server-side. Splitting hairs about terminology doesn't help answer the question though: Do the devs *want* those commands to only impact the host and nobody else?
Because it's really, REALLY strange to have world commands that only affect the host's perception of the game, meanwhile things can still happen that'd only make sense to another player, for example a boat rising with the waves during a storm which would cause the host to see the boat flying because they have rain turned off.
so I guess flying boat is perfect for this
this command doesn't affect world in any way tho
it just changes visual effect of weather
and as I said... you can use mod to achieve the same on clients who joined
if you don't like the fact that temporary-override commands aren't sent to everyone... you can try to post suggestion on devs website for them to change that, there you will get answer if they are interested in this or not (jsut call them by name so they know which commands you talk about)
but keep in mind to speak properly... because
using terminology ambigiously you are just going to confuse them
