Best biome to grow carrots and turnips

anybody know where the best place to grow carrots and turnips? i already know barley and flax only grow in the plains so i wanna build a base on the edge of the plains and black forest biome will carrots and turnips grow in the black forest?

I built a farm in black forest on the edge to the plains for same reason like you plan to do.
In the part of the black forest I plant carrots and turnips and other side of the edge on plains I plant flax and barely. Everything grows well in there.

plains in one farm alongside all other plants, then you dont have to keep up 2 farms

iirc then carrots and turnips can't grow only in the mountains
but I could remember something wrong*
