Well, I'd be sure to at least set it up away from wooded areas, being that's where the giant mosquitos tend to be located, along with Fulings at times. Best of luck to you.

Found a small strip along the coast same island as one of our main bases on our server. basically just a beach that's technically plains. made a massive farm with lots of benches.

Yeah there and in the shores at night tend to spawn to much but i havent much problem with full silver gear and blacl metal shield , have good numbers of needles for arrows is fine to me

Where you put it matters less than what you're putting there.

Earth walls + Moat + Workbenches to prevent spawns within the walls is as safe as you can get anywhere. Preferably away from deathsquito spawn points. Build your main workbench and portal under a rock for security.

If you don't want to do earth walls because they are now far more expensive to build, you're probably just looking at making a wide moat. This can be pretty safe anywhere too. I a building tip I haven't yet tried but I think will work is to leave chunks of earth wall standing in the moat to hide workstations behind them which are there to prevent spawns. Without some sort of cover, I'm guessing spear wielding Fulings will destroy them. Deathsquitos might anyway.

None of these suggestions are "pretty", but they are very effective/functional. If you want a pretty design, you're on your own.

I lofted a sandbar up offshore. But anything that follows the common sense anti-mob rules works fine.

Cleared fuling village works great. They don't respawn so the one I built is never interfered with.

I built stairs up to the top of one of those giant stone pillars, then built a house up there. My farm is at the base of the pillar. There's a trench and a stone wall around it. There's also an shooting platform around the pillar about a third of the way up.

I've not gotten deathsquitoes at the top, have at the shooting platform.

I've considered building right next to Meadows, but I wanted to build on the stone pillar too badly.

I built two farms both size of the boundary of a workbench in the center very well inland in one of the plains areas I found. I have a portal that takes me from my main base to the farm really easily. Sometimes deathsquitos spawn near and attack me but if you have a shield and a weapon they're actually pretty easy to take out, I've only ran into two close together at a time.

Anywhere not next to a goblin city.. Wall it off 1-2 high, spikes on top for the deathbugs, farm away. No fear.. no reward :D don't need trenchs or any serious amount of flattening, except for the walls i'd choose a relatively flat area. Oh and bring a portal.. why walk when you can fly.

I like to be near a forest. The dwarves tend to be a good distraction for skeeters.

i just set them up in goblin bases. Kill them flatten the area and plant. If you can kill a goblin base you can plant anywhere with no issue.

If you plant near Dark forest. You can make Greyeye dwarf farm with a one of the spawners. gets you ton of stone, Wood and resin. You just need to dig a pit under the spawner push in a couple wolves. replenish the wolves every now an then.

On the contrary, you want deathsquito spawns near your base. Portal in, farm some needles, tend your flax and barley crops, and portal out. EZ

I placed mine right infront of the Alter Yaguth and added fences and a portal.
