As others pointed out, there are better ways to traverse water.
sidenote: prepare to FIRE up your weaponry for that bossfight.
Speculating about possible problems is a fools errand. If it isn't based on fact, then why consider it a possible problem?
Just play the game and explore. I highly doubt that ANY seed contains Meadows that are not directly connected to the Black Forest.
OP has copper, tin, and Surtling cores to make a smelter. All of these are located in the Black Forest.
I found a seed that spawns you on a tiny meadow island with hardly anything on it and requires you to sail for everything, even Eikthyr. It's possible to get a tough world. OP's world doesn't sound so bad, though. Just didn't know about the karve.
in my experience when elder is somewhere far behind ocean...
then it's surrounded by mountains or plains and dangerous mobs interrupt the boss fight (just common mobs are bigger issue than boss in such situation...)
I stand corrected. And I guess that I should have given that possibility more credence since the world is, after all, randomly generated.
BTW, I wouldn't go for a new seed...that just ups the challenge!
