"Notes
Trolls are hostile to Draugr and can effectively dispatch them with only one or two strikes.
Trolls are hostile to Leeches and will attack them if they encounter them on the shores of the Swamp.
Trolls will smash any Workbenches they can reach.
Trolls are allied with Greylings and won't hurt them at all, even if they swing at the player.
As with many creatures, there are multiple tiers. Trolls of a higher tier are green (1-star) and red (2-star) instead of blue."
"Because of the Elder's location in the Black Forest, additional enemies such as Trolls or Greydwarfs may join the battle and increase the difficulty significantly."
Basically (true likely for all bosses) ensure you clear the area around the boss's summoning location of creatures/nests/etc where possible before summoning the boss.
FYI Trolls will also fight sea serpents.
They don't do damage to friendlies, exactly like player characters (by default).
normaly dwarfs and trolls arent fighting each other but every other mob groups. So for me it seems like the second boss is summoning the ads against you right from the start
I had only one wander in during my fight because I made sure the area was completely cleared for a ways around. It's the noise you're making that attracts them in if you haven't cleared far enough, or if trees and such start breaking.
In the black forest or swamps just clear the area of any spawners. Bonemass only throws out some blobs. A good scouting of the area and cleanup of any enemies should be done well before you actually summon the boss.
The last thing you should do is summon the boss when you first find the location, that seems like asking for trouble. This game rewards being prepared and punishes not thinking ahead.
Trolls are usually depicted as rather dull, so smacking friends would be usual for 'em.
