Any trick for finding Mountains/ Moder?
I have been looking all over the place for Moder or even Mountain biomes.

I have spent several dozen hours searching every island I encounter trying to find mountains. So far, I only found 4 and none of them had clue regarding Moder location!

Is there any way to at least narrow the search? I noticed that Mountains were generally adjacent to Black Forest, but that hardly helps!

It is very boring and frustrating at that point. Running around island not finding anything of interest.

While sailing, I look for really, really high mountains. The weather needs to be good to do this, as fog and storms can limit visibility. This was the first time, in-game, where I literally sat in my boat, did nothing, and waited for the storms to pass.

But, even in very nice weather, you can only see mountains if they are right by the coast.

Even on maximum the FOV is just too short for that.

Seems like cheating but, at this point, I'll probably end up doing that.

Thanks!

This approach works well for me

Yeah might as well just check your seed if you're done with looking around for that vegvisir. I personally have found three of them in very distant parts of my world and they all pointed me to the same altar, while on a different world with a friend we stumbled upon the altar by sheer luck so I personally encourage to keep searching, but I understand the struggle.

Don't ruin the game for yourself. Go mid way out on map, sail in circle, looking for tall mtns, usually 2-3 of them. By tall, look for sheer cliffs where running up them is impossible, you'll need to cut a path up or find an alternative route up, either from a lower mtn or via sprinting in short bursts from rock to rock to scale it. Also on the mtns look for towers with the red stones outside, these will pinpoint nearest modar.

If the mtn is low and has broken towers or no draugr towers on it, it probably isn't big enough for modar.

If you've made it this far without cheating, don't ruin the rest of the experience by letting yourself down now. Embrace the exploration.

There are still a lot of problems with the world-generation.
It took me 10-15 mountains to finally find Moder - a building right at the foot of that mountain also had the stone-tablet marking the summoning area.

Later i checked with the cheat-tool and.... in my entire world there are just 2 spawnpoints for Moder -.-

I found his location by reading a rune in the mountains while farming silver.

I've found that she always seems to be close to your starting zone, in the opposite direction than the one you started looking, on a continent that is non-contiguous with your original continent. (The mountain also seems to be absurdly tall most times, like way bigger than normal.)

Basically this. If the mountain is high AND wide, it's a good bet Modor is there. You're likely to be able to see that mountain from the water (assuming the weather is clear...).

My moder location was at about 2/3 of the world size away. Surrounded by mostly mistlands and indeed a very high mountain. The summoning location itself was covered in rocks. rng is not always good.

You can easily see mountains from far away in water...
You see them before you see the island they are on even.. just don't sail at night / fog / storm.

There seems to be a site around the north pole.
And an other one closer to middle (?) Just make sure you check all the forts you see.

I missed one, ended up having to sail to the north pole to find moder, while had one much closer..
