The best iron weapon?

So I just made it back to main base with 120 scrap iron and I made some armor and an ancient spear.

What other weapon should I craft to dominate the swamp?

The cauldron menu has a "2" in the star, upper right? If not your spice rack may be too far from the cauldron.

I just cant think of anything else....

Ugh frustrating because the spice rack is literally right next to it but separated by a wood wall.

Hmmm, should work then, I dunno. Try dismantling it and putting it in the same room?

Upgrade button will do nothing for you in the cauldron itself. You just need the spice rack in range and then the new recipes will show up once you have the correct materials for each recipe.

spice racks are best hanging from the ceiling near the cauldron or the fireplace where you are cooking.

You may need to also loot the other ingredients before the recipes unlock. For Swamp-tier stuff, you'll want to make sure you loot:

* Bloodbag (from Leeches)
* Entrails (from Draugr)
* Ooze (from Blobs)

Those are the Swamp-tier ingredients for Black Soup (I think is its name), Sausages, and Muck Shakes respectively. Turnip Stew should unlock as soon as you loot an actual Turnip, which the recipe calls for (3x Turnip, 1x Raw Boar Meat).

Ive looted all tht stuff and still when Im in the cauldron menu and i click Upgrade I dpnt have any options and I dont see any options for new cooking items like with swamp materials either.

the "upgrade" tab in the couldrons UI doesn't currently do anything. you upgrade your cauldron the same way as the other work stations. You have to build things. look under the "crafting" tab of the hammer build intereface.

as to unlocking the new foods its sometimes a matter of picking up some old ingredient again to "remind" the game that you already have it so it unlocks the new recipies. For something like sausages you might have looted entrails and boar meat but still need to pick up the thystles again.

The Iron mace is very effective in the swamp and still works good against things in the Mountains except for the drakes and is even decent in the plains. The Iron hammer is nice in some places, It is less universal and is stamina intensive in use. You really can't make the hammer/maul until after you have found merchant. Sometimes you find the merchant before then, sometimes not. I also like to upgrade to the iron axe and pickaxe, but that is more about speed of chopping trees and mining and durability.

I was dorking around with a very cramped build and the bench and forge upgrades have some sharply defined 'edges' to where their upgrades can be and work. In general they needed to be line-of-sight to each other and not too distant. The wall your spice rack is behind would be the 1st thing to check. The upgrades for the bench and forge will show a stream of flowing sparkles between them and what they are upgrading. I don't have a spice rack yet but it's likely to have the same indicator.

You can crush everything in swamp and mointain with the iron mace , helps a lot against wolves with the knockback and stagger hit , golems get well damage if you can evade their hits
