Taming a wolf earlier in the game
Guys, I just finished defeating the first boss and when I went to the border of the meadows I was able to find mountain environment in a place next the border. I was able to get to the border without freezing because the name mountains appeared instead of meadows.

So, I was thinking. Can wolves spawn next to the border? Because if they do, I was thinking about building a pen next to the border and luring a wolf there, so I could have a wolf pet earlier on the game. Is it something possible for doing?

I like to have pets fighting by my side and wolves are just too far away in the game to get. mountains are the last region to reach, isn`t it? Since they`re strong animals from a high level land, they might have a significant damage and could also help me get pass lower level places like the black forest, for instance.

What do you guys say?

You can use campfires to survive the cold up there, and just use them as a ''safety line'' and thus pull down a wolf. They do sometimes spawn on the border yeah, but not as often as inside the biome itself, so it is fully plausible to tame one this early, just requires some finesse, not to mention if they hit you then yeah... it will hurt.

Should be doable with a copper based tower shield to block their attacks but won't be easy I guess. Build a double walled round pen because they can destroy a single round pen wall quite fast.

If you're not even using an iron shield, the wolves can easily break your bronze shield tier blocks like a hot knife through butter. Better to arrow pull and run the wolf into the pen to tame, thats how I did it :D. That and don't forget, the pets won't follow you on boats or through teleports. They'll be stuck on the island you tamed them on.

Wait we can tame wolves in this game? 0.0 POG!

Yes, it's possible. Step-by-step checklist below.

1) Build a path of campfires through through the mountains. This will keep you from freezing. You'll be cold, but not dying.

2) Build a pen out of wooden stakes. You can get core wood from the black forest. Give it a wooden gate for your leisure.

3) Travel along your path in point 1) to find wolves.

4) Bait them into the pen. Block them with a shield, gtfo, shut the gate.

5) Build a platform above the pen, sneak, and throw them raw meat until they love you.

In these 5 easy steps, you too can have a Stockholm Syndrome pet.

I`ll place a challenge for you here, guys. Tame a wolf after defeating the first boss. Without metals from the Black Forest. Only perhaps the Troll armor. you`ll get into the book of the record guinness

Wolves will 100% spawn near and 100% can be attracted to you if you are mining, digging or chopping. I've been killed 3 times in early game by the buggers. I also have killed two.

I've died 6 times. 3 to wolves 1 to a tree 1 too a poor decision with a group of skeletons, and 1 early in the game to a Skeleton with a green glowing mace. In the first Burial Chamber I went into. (I also got 12 cores from that 1 Chamber) But that is just a humble brag.

I don't know if you can bait them down though. I suspect if you build it in the meadow build a safety platform, attract them down and bait them into the pen that would work.

EDIT
And it just occurred to me I could have been taming boar and wolves this whole time

Let me ask you. Do I need these Black Forest wood to hold the wolf? Because I wanted to break the record and getting a wolf before going to Black Forest.

Tamed wolves pop like soap bubbles to enemy damage and even to friendly fire.

Really? Even in the earlier places like Back Forest? Is there a way to strength them?
