just so you know, 'viking' was more of a job description rather than one big scandinavian culture. as such, it would be weird to assume that its either 100% A, or 100% B. plus, this is mythical nordic fantasy.
If you are asking if you "go a viking" and raid villages, not as such. This game doesn't take place in Midgard, there are no villages to raid. Instead it has more of a Dark Souls feel in that you are alone (if playing solo) or with a small group in the afterlife fighting the enemies of Odin. It has a lot of themes from the Asatru faith, with passages from the Havamal peppered throughout the game, and is focused on the flavor of the Old Norse epic poems rather than historical context (though the game does have a lot of historical references, especially in the art style).
Odin approves of this message.
I guess you could organise raids on other servers, but they'd have to send an invite :D
Clearly, clicker games are more their speed.
Looks like Norse to me.
Is what attracted me to it. But the hak and slash in this game is not realistic to the true Viking/Nordic with the represenation of these demons. It should rather be conquests against another civilization. Conquest of land.
Devs have brought Odin which takes us in a different direction for the game ethics.
The Tree
Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is center to the cosmos and considered very holy.

A bit of history.
There were a people of mixed Gaelic and Norse ancestry and culture. There emerged in the Viking the Norse–Gaels, originated in Viking colonies of Ireland and Scotland, the descendants of intermarriage between Norse immigrants and the Gaels.
As early as the 9th century, many colonists (except the Norse who settled in Cumbria) intermarried with native Gaels and adopted the Gaelic language as well as many Gaelic customs.
If you take a look into a medieval, or cyberpunk, modern, futuristic, sci-fi, alien themes, you can see and feel each of those aspects represent the theme, but in Valheim they don't, I feel I'm playing in a medieval theme game, mostly. As I told, besides the lore, everything else don't feel like Nordic or Viking, at all.
