This Is NOT Real Life, Where's Horizontal Roof?
I get it, you want to simulate stability to your buildings, no problem. I get it, you want water to deteriorate your buildings, no issues. The problem is, WHERE'S THE HORIZONTAL ROOF? Because water deteriorate our base, we are FORCED to have roof, and when I mean roof, I mean the tile with straw on top of it. Because stability in this game is BS, we can't go up to 3 floors (take note, each floor made with 2 2m beams), which means we can only build 1 and 2 floor bases.

This shouldn't be a problem, BUT IT IS, because we are FORCED to have roofs, and the roof is a diagonal tile, WHICH INCREASES THE HIGH, which ENFORCE US to have more floors, increasing the instability... Did you get it? Base building in this game is like 20% walls, floor and roof, and 80% beams, beams everywhere, pillars everywhere, and everything could be solved by simply adding horizontal roof...

So... The basic thing from any basic, why there's no horizontal roof? Enforcing us to deal with stability and deterioration by enforcing us to increase floor number isn't a challenge nor hard, is just a huge incentive to build a lot of small houses in an area. We can't build a 1x10x10 base because, guess what, each roof tile increases 1 in high, the end would be a 10x10x10, which 9 floors are roof.

I'm having trouble to put roof in my 8x6 base, even using the smallest side, this is 6 more floors dealing with stability. But guess what? I have the solution for this, is an ugly one, but it does the job.

Player's solution: Build the roof side-by-side instead of following the pattern, since the game programming asks for a roof, it doesn't matter the direction of the roof, nor if your roof is following the path, if there's a roof block there, everything below it will be protected against the water. Will your base will look like ♥♥♥♥ ? Yes, it will be something like a cartoon factory with that "wavy" roof, but that way you can build a 30x30 base with only 1 roof floor.

Developer's solution: Implementing the simplest thing that anyone could think of, a simple horizontal roof.

Maybe next contend drop, which is focused on building.

Personally I place "joke" roof on top of forge and workbench (literally 2x 45 roofs, one on right one on left)
And it fills "roof required"

The house itself uses floor as roof (the wood tiles)

I saw some posts on reddit, people are furious about the stability and decay, and devs already gave a good answer, saying they would fix that in the near future.

Rain won't run off of a horizontal thatched roof. :ooh: Perhaps future additions to the stone building set will help with the overall look.

Mhhh, humans have built angled roofs since the dawn of man. Flat roofs are more a modern thing because we have ways to deal with water drainage etc. now. But in the game you are building in a more primitive way so flat roofs would make little sense. Water would just collect on it and damage the roof, leak through it and also add additional weight and stress to the structural features of the building. That's why almost every old house ever built has an angled roof so water doesn't collect on it and doesn't damage the structure. The only areas where you can also see old buildings with no angled roof are in middle eastern areas etc. where it barely rains.

I got the idea but horizontal straw roof would just look wrong. It doesn't exist IRL for reason. Water will seep through.

It's like the fake windows with half walls in long houses. They are wrong, strictly speaking. You won't build windows if you don't have glass IRL.

Because thatched roofs HAVE to be sloped to shed water. Flat thatched roof would, blindingly obviously, NOT shed water. Ever seen a thatched building with a flat roof in real life? No. The first update is going to have more building parts, but I would think it would be shingle roofs, not flat ones.

Build better. I have a 6x10 base with a proper roof.

In real life rain wouldnt decay my floor instantly either!

Someone needs a diaper change. Almost beat the game and Have had no issue building things. It takes some getting used to not an essay of whinery.

Also you would only need it to be like 1 degree for it to run of so it’s still basically a flat roof!
