Single player gameplay
How's the single player experience in the game? I'm a sucker for survival games and it seems like a really interesting game. I used to put mods on Skyrim and Fallout for that Survival experience, and played a good amount of Subnautica and the such, so, how good is the game in general when it comes to the survival experience?

It can be very unforgiving one player.

I am good at games which require grind, but if you don't make several spare sets of armour, mead, food weapons etc you are in danger of losing everything on a mountain top with no reasonable way to get it back :) (I hope you can sense the pain...)

Depends at what point you start entering the mountain biome.
There is a set progression and you should only enter areas you are prepared for. Dying should rarely become an issue if you follow the progression and only go to places you are prepared for.

Never have been in need for another armor set. I don't think there's a requirement for that, just make sure to have cold resists potions ready and go again. If you run into enemies that can't be spotted and outrunned you die and loose what.. 1 potion.

But yea great singleplayer game!

Its been great solo, if a bit challenging at times (especially when entering a new biome with the previous biome's equipment- which you have to do in order to upgrade).

After my 1st (disasterous) 2 games (save/load failure then a bad seed), I've used console commands to take a run around the map, see the bosses, explore a little etc, then restarted a game without them. And I'm much better now, but that 1st experience with a Troll crushing my carefully constructed base in my 1st game will always stay with me.

And in the end, that's what I play games for to have an experience that is episodic and story-like.

Here's hoping they keep the exploring interesting....

I went in with a full set of maxed out silver weapons and armour. When I died on the mountain (with my respawn bed destroyed btw) I had to run back to my base only to find it was under attack by Moder. After two failed runs to the mountain in old gear (bronze in this case) I'm left with few options.

So yes, I followed the set progression. My mistake was in not spending the extra few days grinding to have enough spare high level gear and supplies to guarantee getting back to my body.

I'm not complaining by the way, it's great to have a game that doesn't treat us like entitled lazy unimaginative kids for a change :)

You went in with silver gear? Well considering you get silver gear from the mountains biome I don't know how you managed that.

The biome is balanced for Iron armour and tools so I can't really say what you might need to do to get your stuff back. Is it Moder that's preventing you from getting your stuff back?

Yes, Moder is at the point where I died and also at my main base :) Silver gear because I had already geared up at another mountain. You will probably remember that to kill Bonemass, frost arrows are best, so I had found mountains some time before going after Moder.

Basically I need to craft a new set of iron gear, a decent bow and some poison arrows (which seemed pretty effective until he killed me with a lucky shot (honest)). Plus a set of meads and some decent food. The latter stuff I can do when Moder leaves off attacking my base, if anything is left.

I can probably recover the situation, but I'm just pointing out to the OP that single player isn't an easy ride unless you plan meticulously and have plenty of backup gear and supplies before taking any big risks.

Unforgiving is nice. The pain is something that's worth playing for in this types of game. So bring on the pain~ :steamhappy:

Here's to hoping they keep adding more to it. Game seems extremely fun.

Another question, I know that most have already moved to Win10 by now, but game says it's still playable on Win7. Anyone here still on that OS?

I can't upgrade at the moment since I have delicate work files tied to my current pc. So I'm really banking on at the moment this is still playable on 7.
