I had to quit -- way too frustrating

Got killed, far away. Lost all my weapons, food, and most importantly, boar hide scraps. This was marked on the map, but on the way back, I got killed again and it only shows the last place you died. Could not find my stuff, died twice again trying to find it. I'm not enjoying that.

Open your Map, then double click anywhere on it. This lets you place a marker. Use that to mark death spots, or anything else you want.

That was me yesterday.Install valheim plus and look for small config file FPS fix, game is now fixed and fun.Go to YouTube and see if valheim plus is for you.

Boar hide scraps are really low-level, easy to get materials. Boars literally run up to you to give you their scraps lol. What biome and what mobs are killing you? What equipment are you using?

Helpful tip, place an icon on the map on your corpse and label it as such as soon as you die and respawn. That way if you accidentally die trying to reach it and the default icon gets moved, you’ll still know where that corpse is.

Can tell you right now boar hide scraps are practically worthless and one of the easiest materials to acquire in bulk. It's not much of a loss at all and you can easily gain them back.

the likely hood that you were somewhere obvious, is very likely.

The map makes paths very narrow, so follow your most likely path, on the map, and you will find a bright glowing totem.

They are visible from quite the distance, so don't get discouraged.

You aren't very far into the game, so you should have little trouble running up and grabbing your gear.
Bring food, your dead body totem, will equip everything exactly s you had it, when you had it equipped, though you will have to "Equip" your armor, when you get it, so if its clear, just take a second to do that, otherwise, just run away naked.

always try to eat at least some food, like mushrooms and berries, while traveling away from home, as they give health regen, and max health buffs.

If the game, truly is giving you a hard time, it has a Console cheat system, so you can fix anything, as you are the one in charge of your own fun in this game.
If this little issue, becomes such a great issue, that you wouldn't want to play, as its unfindable, or just down right impossible due to enemies, or the like.
Then use the cheat system to spawn the items back in.
Be responsible, and consider that you the player, are just a helpful God, guiding your minion to the right destination if fixing the issue is semi unappealing.

Two options:

Learn to avoid situations where you lose too much of your equipment. If you venture away from base, do it on purpose and just equip tools needed for the task. No need to take everthing with you all the time.

Or simply make backups of your save files.

I only had to corpse run on three occasions in this game now I am in maxed out 'end game' gear and everything is trivial, this game is stupidly easy mechanics wise, its just a slow boring grind to get geared. nothing difficult really, I can give you some stuff if you want :)
