I read that 3 of these are needed to summon the boss. But they weigh 200 each so unless i build a chest next to the summoning place and take them one at a time there doesn't seem to be any other way. Is this right?

Could always use a cart if the mountain is viable to move with one.

Yea. Load them all on the ship and sail next to the summoning alter. Move one at a time. Or use multiple worlds exploit.

if you buy the build from the vendor you can carry two and some basic gear. but yeah a cart or three trips is your best bet

yes or you can make another seed(world) make a little house with a chest and drop eggs in there. On your main world go to the summoning place and then log into the other seed that has the eggs, grab them and then log back into your main world and ta da youre at the summoning spot with the eggs

Since the dragon boss is in the mountains, there's a good chance you can find dragon eggs in the same mountain area as the boss. If you're playing solo, and the boss altar is a long trip from any place you can anchor your boat and carry eggs from, then searching the mountain area the boss is in first would be my suggestion.

You should also be able to place the eggs in their altar spots without building a chest, as they each have an individual spot you place them in. Then do the summoning once you have all the eggs in place.

I found all 3 dragon eggs on the same mountain as Moder. You can place the eggs one at a time into the slots and have all 3 sitting there if you like until you are prepared. She doesn't actually spawn until you make the offering manually, slightly different from the other where the items are taken from your inventory and then the bosses spawned instantly.
