Edit:
It becomes my grinding/ hunting grounds after that. It is where i get all my bloodbags and sausage mats.
Never stay in the water for too long .
Crypt is actually the safer place where you can get iron for better surviving chance .
Use a mace for blobs, wait until they jump or after they did a poison attack, two hit them.
Use a shield, learn to parry. You can now beat/parry 95% of enemies in game. When the parry staggers them, you crit them 100% of the time.
Take it slow and steady, Don't rush and everything is okay. Obviously rush for iron armor asap, that should be your first priority there.
Tip for the crypts: You usually see enemies behind the stuff you can mine. Don't mine all of it, just enough to use your bow on them to take them out.
Did you try making walls out of the terrain? (tip: use the Hoe to make walls)
Is your armor, clubs, and shields fully upgraded? Are you training your block skill? Are you using blunt damage? Are you even in bronze Tier? Are you using those huge trees/roots for elevation? Are you eating good food?
Everything became easier the longer we stayed in the swamps. The only thing that stayed annoying is slimes and the occasional Wraith.
It's also weird how I prefer mitigating poison damage with Healing potions and the "resting/comfort" buff which heals me 20+HP per tick.
weak hp potion heals 5hp/s for 10s
medium hp pot heals 7.5hp/s for 10s
and they trigger 2min cooldown on hp pots so they are last resort I guess
The food gives hp regen, like honey is 5hp/s
And resting gives you 50% more health regen and 100% more stamina regen (so 7.5hp/s from honey alone)
The level of comfort just extends time of "rested" buff, each level of comfort means +1min to timer
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Comfort
also evade wet/cold effect
they decrease health regen and stamina regen ;-; (don't fight at night/rain)
the corpse run buff after recovering body is 10hp/s, bonus armor/resistances and bonus speed for 50s :D good to abuse just portal close to bonemass and /killme
if you live less than 10min then you don't lose skills ;d
Also lets not forget swamp is basically a infinite farm for one of the best foods out there, the sausages are just op and you farm the entrails needed by default exploring the cripts
I love posts like this.. they dont bother even reading what they are replying too in the first place, just regurgitate whatever they last read on reddit or 4chan and act like they know something.
Hey genius.. the problem for alot of people isnt the food or the parry or the shield or whatever..
Its the poison dots that are WAY too strong even with a poison resist.
Its the constant non-stop endless spawns of fireball throwing mobs from spawners you cant get rid of.
Its the constant nonstop endless spawns of dragur that flood in from every direction.
Its the fact Iron armor or shields or parry means jack against poison damage.
But most damning, (and why my entire group quit) its the constant corpses vanishing or becoming unretrievable forcing you to re-grind an entire persons inventory of fully upgraded armor and weapons...
So yeah.. the swamp ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Stop white knighting and READ the frustrations of the player base.
LMAO wtf I soloed Bonemass""" by myself, used an iron mace for him and a sledge for the mobs. Had some health pots and poison resist pots and it only took like 10 mins
Always have a rested buff.
Enter the swamp via land. Going in from sea sucks due to leeches in the water and overall too many mobs that can easily kill you. Its possible to deal with, but can be quite difficult even if you are completely prepared. I've gotten screwed several times from just waves of mobs moving up to greet me when I land.
Build a base or put a portal in a nearby biome. You can also build bases in the immortal trees in the swamp which allows you to snipe annoying mobs before dropping to the ground. Pretty handy and quite a cool base.
Have all cooked food. If you don't you shouldn't be in the swamp. Turnips that grow in the swamp are a fantastic addition to your base that give a great meal once you have enough to eat. You'll have to actually go there to get them, but using the speed buff its not terribly difficult.
Poison resistance is great, but even better is never getting hit by it in the first place. Run from blobs whenever possible.
Another thing that may just be from my seeds is that swamp biomes closer to the spawn seem easier than ones further away. They also often lack the crypts while ones further away seem to have more (found one near the edge with 5).
^100% this. Once my group figured out that blunt damage was the key, Bonemass was a literal cakewalk. We all popped one poison resist and 3 of us wailed on the boss with maces while 2 others used hammers to AOE the adds.
Was over in less than 2 minutes.
OR...you could throw yourself at the boss undergeared with the wrong weapons, uninstall and complain about it being hard.
