Does people regularily fish?
Like hunting for meat or harvesting berries, do you also fish?

I wanna know so I can find out if its just me thats really bad at it and find it frustrating, or is it a general feeling?

Would like to know if its possible to be like "yeah any time I need it I spend 10 mins and fish a full stack of it".

Cause it was so bad in my first attempts, im not even sure if I should try it again. Maybe its hard for everybody, thus needing some patch to balance it, instead of getting frustrated again when trying it... xD

i would if i could find the merchant lol, until then i am limited to picking them of the shores after a storm (at least i think its the storm that causes them to be banked, one time i found 13!)

its used in certain high tier food recipes.

I fish up a stack whenever I run low. Find fish, cast, wait for bobber to dip, hold right-click until fish is in your inventory, repeat until no more fish. They do seem to stop biting at night, but maybe I'm just more easily distracted in the dark.

Edit: a fishing net would be a nice addition.

Yes, you can have a stack in 10 mins or less, but that does take some luck and practice. My best tip is to not cast too far (<10 meters out at all times) and use a bit of side-to-side movement to bring the fish close enough to be able to press E on it. Also, fish on a raised platform, you can make a dock or if there's some nice boulders to cast off of, do that.

I don't like how the fishing works. Feels really wonky.

Honestly fishing is pretty lack luster for the following reasons...

A) You need to buy a pole from a merchant you may never ever find in your world.
B) You have to buy bait from that same merchant you may never ever find in your world.
C) The fishing mini game is pretty bare bones simple once you figure out how to throw it short its reliable but the speed you catch the fish is not exactly as quick as getting a stack of venison in the same time... It can be a bit more consistent then trying to get a stack of necks in the same time... So it might be worth while if your at a point in the game you still actually rely on Neck meat then fish is slightly better and possibly more reliable to get....

However if your at the stage of the game where sausage and turnip stew is a breeze then fishing is even more pointless seeing as to all the requirements that went into getting it in the first place....

So to summarize if you can find the merchant early enough it game its pretty good but if you are in the swamp working on or you have finished Bonemass and havent found the merchant then fishing will be pretty pointless for you when you do....

Ye, fishing is useful, don't waste your fish just to eat though, cos it's used for one of 3 highest tier food

Locking fishing behind finding the trader automatically makes it worthless. 18 hours in, no sign of him.

Shoreline fish traps would be dope.

Fish seem to always spawn in the same places (in groups), like Neck do, so I fish up 10 or so and cook them; neck + beef + fish give you a lot of health.

Even if they are used in a higher tier recipe, it only takes me all of 5 minutes to get 10 fish meat. Right on the shore in my base there are always 6-12 fish. Fish, logout, login, repeat.

Yeah that would be awesome much like bee hives are.
i like fishing but it needs an update. reeling stuff in is wonky and it seems like the fish try to fly away from you when they're hanging in the air too? lol.
my biggest issue with it though is the fact you need to buy a fishing rod to fish. like, there's small rivers where you can literally see the fish- why can't we spear them? they eat my arrows too? why can't we craft a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fishing rod out of a stick and some string? why can't we make fish traps out of like rocks or something to trap them when the tide goes out (or can we? idk i never experimented beyond spending half an hour trying to shoot them)

I found out you couldn't shoot fish with arrows or the Abyssal Harpoon. I was sorely disappointed, but fishing with a rod is pretty fun.

I'd fish but I really don't like that you need to keep buying bait. Not that I can't afford it, its just kinda eh.

I'd love to see them expand upon the fishing systems and include other methods ranging from traps to strait up net fishing in the ocean.
