Is the iron battleaxe the most useless weapon or am i missing something?
So its 35 iron and 30 ancient bark, way too expensive.

so i thought it would be a great weapon.

When i try it it takes longer than any other weapon to attack, longer than even a bow, and it doesnt do that much damage. the secondary attack is useless too.

I dont understan who can i fight with this? it takes a lot of time to hit someone, so everything is gonna hit me unless i roll but then i wont be able to hit ever.

the atgeir is faster, has more AOE, and hits harder, and its cheaper. i dont understand why i would use a battleaxe.

am i missing something, or is it this bad?

Is that not the Axe that does a circle animation?
THAC0 Feb 18, 2021 @ 6:00pm
wait something is more useless then spears?

nope it's useless atm, it's just an atgier with reversed alt and primary attacks, yet significantly worse at both attacks.

The polearms, atgeirs, do the full 360 degree slice with their secondary attack. Which also staggers most enemies of the weapon's mat tier and below when you hit them.

Battle-axe primary is a 180 degree cut, and sloooooooow.

spears at least are fast, and the third attack will stun them. you can also throw them, pick them up and go away, repeating this in circles and you can kill anything.

but the battleaxe is useless lmao

battleaxe was the first iron weapon i made, immediately farmed enough for another weapon and got rid of it lol.

Same..

the parry gives such a huge knockback that sends enemy out of the reach, the special attack with the middle mouse also does the same. its soo stupid.

i deeply regret crafting it. such a waste of iron

2 handed weapon in general is bad. .

The main attacks swing speed needs to be faster. This is the biggest issue with it. The main attack would also benefit from a somewhat lesser stamina drain.

As of now you can never start with a main swing as the mob either just walk out of the arc before the swing hits, or hits you, you'll be knocked back and your attack chops the air between you and the mob. The only way to use the main attack is if the mob is staggered.

So yeah, the battle axe really needs improvement.

Middle Mouse to stun and then 3 hit combo! I think it's a 'great' weapon

The weapon can be good when used right. Use the secondary "poke" for when targets get too close then charge up the full 3-hit swipe combo. The finisher hits like a train and the wide sweeps have a much further range than the animation shows. The idea is to keep targets at arms length away and look for chances to charge up a swipe. Once you get the first swing, the 2nd and 3rd are very fast. The Blackmetal Atgeir does outshine it in raw damage but up to that point the Battleaxe is quite deadly.

Given how much of a pain in the ass it is to get iron I wouldn't waste it on gear anyway; upgrading bronze is far less of a headache and suffices until silver IMHO. Fully upgraded bronze armor is as good as fresh iron and weighs less. I save iron for boats and crafting upgrades...maybe a shield.
